Sorry to ask yet another n00b question, but there are a couple of 3DOs going in Akiba, a FZ-1 and a FZ-10. There are the same price. Any differences I should be aware other than the size and top loading design on the FZ-10?

(Apologies once again, but with Akiba so close, I'm like a kid in a candy shop at the moment!)

As I recall, the FZ-1 needs software to manage the memory, whereas the FZ-10 has a front-end built in to the UI and requires no disk. Apart from that, they have slightly different modules for MPEG decoding (FV-1 versus FV-10) and the FZ-10 is rumored to be better for playing games burned to CD-R.

FZ-10 is my favorite 3DO. It fits in with other top-loading systems too unlike FZ-1.

I prefer the FZ-1 as it feels like a proper games machine and not some plastic toy that the FZ-10 does.

I have only had a Goldstar and an FZ-1. The cd drive in the FZ-1 died.

Seconded, avoid the Goldstar one at all costs. I still can't believe that thing cost $400 at one point!
