To be honest every game I've used VGA on actually looks slightly worse than on a TV. You can spot the jaggies much easier, the resolution doesn't feel quite right and the colours are not quite what they should be. Perhaps My monitor is just set up wrong or something, but even with tweaking the colours you can still see the jaggies (a TV normally blurs this)

1: RU using the official VG-Box or a 3rd party one? I know other crap for PS2/GC/Xbox are actually just upscan converters -- games look like crap through them.

    2: What monitor RU using?

I've used various vga boxes but not the official. It wont make much difference anyway as the Dreamcast is wired for VGA - all the box does is hook upto the wires and plants a connector on the end.

I've got 4 different CRT monitors, 2 twin IBM's and 2 different models of Philips (which are my better monitors) yet none of them are better than using a decent TV.

I use the official Sega VGA box on a Mitsubishi Diamondcrysta TFT monitor. Every game I play on it looks miles better than my Sharp TV. I use S-Video for the TV too. The colours look much more sharp through VGA with everything looking crystal clear. Soul Calibur looks amazing and Shutokou Battle two looks like it's running on a completely different system !! The new game, Baldr Force EXE looks shite on a TV because of the over scanning. The screen flickers like hell unless the flicker filter is used. No problems what so ever through VGA though !!

I think LeGIt must have a shitty VGA Box 'cause I can honestly say that the official box does make games look better. I remember playing PSO through VGA after 6 months of using the TV. I couldn't believe how much more detail I could see. Shenmue 1 and 2 are the same. There is a problem with Shenmue 2 though. The icons in the corner of the screen look a little pixelly probably because they are low resolution sprites but everything else is fine. It's not a major issue but is is something that I noticed. I'm playing Rayman now through VGA, looks the bees knees :smt033

Can't wait to join the club... my boxes come of the boat tomorrow. Just hope everything is in tact!!!

This new TV has VGA in (1377x11xx resolution) or something like that. I assume the VGA box only goes to 640x480 anyway.

I played a Baldr Force EXE demo, and honestly -- it hurt my eyes.

I'd reccomend Rez, Soul Calibur, Rayman 2, Phantasy Star Online, and MDK2.

What kind of TV did you get? If you a LCD it can vary between manufacturers. My friend just got a LCD TV and we tried playing his Xbox in 480p(Essentialy the same resolution as a VGA box) and our eyes hurt too after playing for a bit. He returned the TV and got a new one and it has been much easier on the eyes like a LCD should be. Try a different game or sitting at differents distances. What size is the TV?

Don't forget Headhunter. Looks far better in VGA.

Oh and God, don't forget PSO. Japan/EU servers are still up of course, the game looks glorious in VGA.

I got an Aquos (by Sharp) but I played Baldr Force EXe in Akihabara, on a cheesy TV. The eye hurting wasn't the resolution, but rather the jumpy screen the game features.

Well you might be pleasantly surprised then... Gigawing is a 2D game from CPSII whereas GW2 is a 3D game ported from Naomi :)

Gigawing already looks like ass on Dreamcast due to scaling.

Tate mode isn't scaled though, is it?

I played ESPGaluda on my TV the other day, in normal mode. Scaled is pretty damn ugly. They've also got the colors set to "eye-popping vibrant" so it looks really off. I'd hate to have to dull them down just for my low-res games.
