Until now I have not yet tried the original unfixed rom as I thought that it would not work. I read the FAQ and tried to use the f2 rom. Does the other roms (Banjo Kazooie 1 and Jet Force Gemini) also work normally as of now, or do you have to use the fixed ones? Thank you for your help
I did try the original DK on OS 1.22. It does save to EEPROM, but the games protection wiped it clean after about an hours play.
Yes I can confirm this. After playing for about 1 hours, the save file was deleted (there is an DK64 Save file in the ED64 Save folder). So I guess I have to find a working Copy for Pal N64. I will try the 101% Patch from Lac EDIT// OK I got the f2 Rom to run on a Pal console by using FORCE SRAM 128 (NOT Force SRam). I will see if it saves fine or not and report back //EDIT 2 // Ok the game boots but does not keep the save (with Forced SRAM 128) Hm thats bad:S Is there any way to play this game on a pal n64 with saving?
Look @ the qoute > Have you tried the NTSC Version F2? I think it should run fine @ PAL also! EDIT: Have you already tested this one from goodset: Donkey Kong 64 (E) [f1] (Boot&Save) on eltorado they say this one worked like a charm with forced sram! This is The PAL third Release of DEXTROSE 101%! The PAL Patch for the original Rom is in the attachement but as i say the E F1 Boot+Save should work!
Hi and thanks for reply. Yes I tried the F2 US Version. As I said in my previous posts: The Donkey Kong 64 (U) [f2].z64 refuses to boot when I use "Force SRAM". I just see the Dextrose Intro, however it instantly freezes and I just see a red box (the box where the text normally comes). When I ust "Force SRAM 128", the Dextrose Intro works fine and the game ist playable, however it does not keep any save. So using the Donkey Kong 64 (U) [f2].z64 on a Pal console with "Force SRAM" does not work. I will try the Donkey Kong 64 (E) [f1] (Boot&Save) version. Thanks //Edit// I played the Pal Donkey Kong 64 (E) [f1] (Boot&Save) without forcing SRam. Works fine for the moment. I played about 1 hour, got Diddy and the first crown and a medal. Too bad that the US Version is not working on a Pal N64, because it looks way better on my TV than the Pal one^^ Anyway, I am glad to finally be able to play DK64
Thank you. Since the Donkey Kong 64 (U) [f2].z64 with FORCE SRAM works fine on an NTSC Console, and boots up on PAL when using FORCE SRAM 128, I suppose that there is a problem with the SRAM function under PAL N64. Thanks again for looking into this. //Edit// Bad luck, Donkey Kong 64 (E) [f1] (Boot&Save) does not keep the save either :S. It worked fine for about 2 hours but then deleted again.
Hello i'am again, i have just tested the U F2 version on my PAL machine and it boots up fine with force sram. I have an ED64V1 on FW 1.12 & OS 1.13 Greetz Alex
Thanks man, you save my day OS1.13 does not work on my v2 but at least I got it to work on 1.20 and 1.21. So OS1.22 is the problem. Hopefully KRIKzz can fix it
Nice to hear but be carefull with this two os because 1.20 and 1.21 have a sram savebug if i am right :/
got my everdrive 64 today thought id test this out also using a pal console and freezes at dextrose loading screen didnt try with older revision software though just the latest os other then that everything ive tried so far has worked flawlessly.
i not keep progress in secret, if i have some progress. you will see new os on krikzz.com once it will be fixed. currently i work over mega ed, so updates and bug fix for other carts in the queue
Just wanted to let you know that the Pal f1 version still doen't work. It loses the save after you get the first crown. I will try the U f2 Version. //Edit// The SRam Bug is still there. On OS 1.23 the Donkey Kong U f2 Rom still does not boot on a Pal system when using Force SRam. On 1.21 however it works.
U rom works perfect on U system, so it is bug in hack. bug in SRAM of old OS is the only reason why old os allow to run hacked U version on pal system. intro can't detect SRAM on old OS, but if intro detects the sram it hangs in same moment on pal system. probably some timings problem which is was hardcoded for ntsc.
