I don't have a lot of time on my hands any more due to my job, but I've been looking into replaying some classic Final Fantasy games (I call them commitment games) with a "theme", for a lack of a better way to put it. By "theme", I mean something like, but not limited to: 1) FF3: least steps 2) FF7: no materia 3) FF8: no drawing / no GF 4) Resident Evil 4: no merchant / knife only (except against bosses which must be killed with firearms) Personally, there are a few Final Fantasy games which cannot hold my attention. Namely, FF1, FF2, FF9 (I hate that I have to learn skills from my equipment), FF12 (battle system turns me off). If anyone has personally done a nice themed-run of a Final Fantasy game, post it and give me some insight into its difficulty and fun-factor. I've been thinking of doing this for far too long, and some advice would be appreciated.
isn't FFT like Disgaea? I've never played FFT before. I've also never personally played Disgaea, but I know what its like.
well in some things it is but far more serious. One of my personal favorite games. i think i spent like 2000 hours on it in the years...
FF7 with no weapons is probably the most achievable. I'm not putting down your skills but FF8 with no drawing or GF will be stupidly hard.
Last year I was doing an FF7 perfect save run without using the dupe exploit. Turns out the days of grinding I did to boost my level prematurely went against me as I was in my late lvl 60's/early 70's by the time I was at Cosmo Canyon and some of the items nearby drop rate was almost nothing beyond a certain point, so basically I gave up and haven't touched FF7 since. I wish you luck and whatever method you use, read up first to make sure you don't miss anything! Personally though I think one challenge could be to play Criss Core, FF7 and watch Advent Children (the extended version) in the shortest time possible, or better yet without sleeping, or without saving! <insert dirge of cerberus etc too if you're feeling brave>
Don't forget Before Crisis! If you can read kanji and own a japanese cell. Oh and the OVA. Lol, I might try this.
hehe I didn't forgt I just couldn't remember what they were hence I put etc If you did it without saving, leaving the console on etc then have it crash etc that would be a bitch and half of the fun
I remember my first fully complete Final Fantasy VII attempt. The Battle square to get enough points to get Final Attack and Clouds limit break I left it running for 3 days as you can't leave the arena and you can't save but I didn't have the time to play it continuously. That PS1 still lives today some 12 years later.
why? is it the gambits? or the walking around? I started ff12 and got into it abit and didnt really love the gambits either but you get used to them and they kinda get fun to use sometimes...*shrugs* but when i found the ff12zjs eng patched version thats where i started to love the game abit more and i kinda hold it up to 7, 8 and 9 along with kh1/2..(which reminds me if your into kh try some of that?) anyway ff12zjs has some good additions over the original and is at least worth checking out..plus its the only one of the series ive tried doing challenges for....so theres that XD
Maybe because it wasn't an FF-style battle system? Not everyone wants that damn MMORPG feeling in every game. As far as suggestions, play Mystic Quest without saving inside of dungeons.
I wasn't arguing it, thats what initially threw me off. It just took some getting used to and sort of a sense that it was more outside a traditional ff play *shrugs* I do remember rolling my eyes a lot during ff7 battle encounter sounds/graphic though XD ..anyway the main reason I really played it was for the history of the world n such, plus there was some pretty fun challenges supplied by forum of course and it being zodiac job system made it playable. weak mode was always fun btw ;p
Hello everyone, Well Beretta85, some themes or restrictions for playing Final Fantasy. Uh how about playing any of the Final Fantasy's without upgrading or buying new weapons? Or not using any magic when playing through any of the Final Fantasy games? I am not sure if that is what you are looking for but I hope it helps. Bye. :cur_sonic: :luigi:
slightly OT but I'm currently playing Final Fantasy The Four Heroes of Light and I'm really enjoying it. Quite funny that it is a spinoff that's reigniting my long past love for the FF franchise.
