I had a topic here "I like bananas..."

Who deleted it, and why?

 

It was me who deleted it, sorry forgot to send you a PM.

Why ?well it was a bunch of utter crap thats why i mean topic title: i like banana's first post: because they have no bones.

That's why it was deleted because it was pure bullshit that had nothing to do with what this board is for.

 

Ok then

It was lyrics from a "Space Ghost - Coast to Coast" song, called "Something that rhymes with Bones". I was seeing who would recognize it.

Being that there are plenty of off-topic threads going on, I would have to say you are just being a jerk.

Sure there are some off-topic discussion but they are all game related and your topic had nothing to do with games.

I'm not trying to be a jerk i'm just trying to help keep the board going in the right direction by removing as much non-game related stuff as possible so the boards doesn't fill with all kinds of crap.

I'm not doing this to piss you off it's nothing personal, and i would feel sad if this means lossing a valued member who has been and on the old boards for quite some time.

I hate to add to this ignorant fight but this has always been a friendly board of people who like each other....there were off topic items here 2 years ago and there will be 2 years from now....it's not gonna destroy the board unless it gets out of hand. Yakumo has been here for eternity and "he" replied to the post with his sense of humor he didn't delete it....lets just get along...if it becomes offensive to the majority of the board we'll let you know SilverBolt.

 

Yep. The board before never seemed to have much moderation going on and we never had issues there nor have we had it here... We all enjoy seeing and hearing about other things. e.g. im sure we had a VERY big OT post about what else other then gaming that we enjoy doing... Or am i dreaming?

Okay, from what I get of the thread posted, I would have found it pretty dumb, but that's just my personal opinion as I'm not a fan of anything on Cartoon Network. However, there have been some pretty random posts (including ones started by myself) during the time I've been a member, and I can't honestly say that this was any more or less offtopic than any of the others.

The only place I can see where the post would have been a problem would have been its title. If it was just "I like bananas..." then - not saying it should or shouldn't have been - but I can see it being deleted as a junk post. However, had it been prefaced with something like "OT:" or "Offtopic:" that's another thing. I didn't see the post, so I don't know what it looked like. I just suggest that anything fairly offtopic should be labeled as such in the subject line when being posted.

And with the mods, if anyone is having a problem with anything we're doing, anything at all, please let us know in a PM or the Feedback Forum - none of us are here to act like jerks, we're just trying to make the forum as neat and orderly as possible. True, the old didn't need as much moderation, but I don't think anyone can really deny that this board is different (not nessicarily in a bad way) than the old one, and as such could use a bit more policing, but if any of us seem to be getting out of hand, please let us know - like I said, nobody's here to act like jerks or go power tripping or anything.

This wasn't really directed at any particular individuals, just trying to resolve things and get back to our fun little board. :smt040

 

I think we should add a CD-R trading circle to the board, to attract more people.

 

First of all let me say sorry if i have been a fool and have offended people this is not my intention.

I've placed a topic with the mods they can decide if i stay moderator or not.

 

Hey gajinpunch, I don't think the CDR trading thing is a good idea, aminly becasue it'll attract those warez freaks and script kiddies, and where they go the law is sure to follow. Before you know it somebody will be trying to shut assembler down.


You know, the point of having moderators is that they're supposed to "moderate," that is, police the board. Like in the trading forum I posted an NES and somebody told me that the trading forum wasn't made to post every common item you throw up on Ebay, just the rare stuff. And I was totally cool with that. So somebody just posts some random baloney about nothing that has to do with videogames, and doesn't even put the OT in the title, then I suppose it's only natural that somebody would tell him that's not what the board is for.

Anyway Mindchild, please don't get all mad and run away. It happens to us all. Don't take it personally, we're all part of the same big dorky family, can't we all just get along, I have a dream, etc. It's just one stupid post.

One time I bought a box of Boo berry cereal and posted it on the old board. I thought it was funny.

 

P.S. Silverbolt- don't worry about it. You're just doing your job and all. It's not like you get paid for it or something.

 

Well i dont know im not saying you should give up your mod status but i think this board gets on very very well with everyone here and we dont need mods to censor every ot post. I just think theres nothing wrng with a few ot posts here and there as long as it gets a disgussion going.

Mods should be here to help the new members on the rules and keep things that arent welcome here out... e.g all the ebay posts and people who ask for roms of games and so on....

 

Perhaps we just need an Offtopic subsection on the board... personally I wouldnt have minded that "I like bananas" topic (although I wouldve frowned), I think we need a bit of nonsensical humor to keep this board a nice place for us all to hang out

I think the Off Topic section would be a good idea, seems like it would stop a lot of problems like this.

I think that you do a great job as a mod but maybe you should ask another mod if something like Mind Childs post should be deleted. OK, stay with me here. We all know that Mind Child's posts can be of topic at times but his post about the bananas was interesting just because it was so odd. I think that the topic should have been left and marked as "OT" which I was going to do but forgot Anyway, off topics like that one generate discussion on the board. Whether the discussion is about games or not it doesn't matter as long as other members of the board are happy. I treated Mind Child's post as a joke by asking if he had been smoking or drinking, because I had no f*cking idea what he was talking about. I'm sure others would have been interested to have found out about the post's meaning.

So guy's and Gals (if there are any) If you make an Off Topic post then PLEASE write "OT" at the begining. THis doesn't mean that we need the board filled with "OT" posts though. THe odd one or two is great to have but a games board with nothing about games is a bit pointles. Don't you agree?

As for Evangelion's porn post, that was well in need of a deletion. You did the right thing there and nobody can say otherwise.

Here is my idea. Anything offensive is instantly deleted. Whether it's porn, racist comments or flaming (with in reason). Stuff that's off topic like Mind Child's post should be renamed. If there are no replies to it with in a few days then obviously nobody gives a Sh!t about the post so it can be deleted.

Your idea about moving all the Ebay crap to one post is also one of your excellent ideas that I think is working well. Keep it up mate. You do a great job. Just take it a little easy.
