Why Apple keeps talking bullshit about gaming?

So the old guy that replaced the dead guy just said gamers with ipads prefer those to actual consoles and portables



Do they really think the same propaganda machine that got crackberry adicts to the iphone is going to work for gamers?

Now they are saying the new ipad has "quadcore graphics" because the chip is the same old dualcore when even the lowest chinese brands are announcing quadcore tablets for half the price of the ipad.

Someone please show these idiots the 3DS sales numbers....

 

Apple's target demographic thinks Angry Birds is the best game ever.

 

Yeah, they're not really targeting people who play games, but the people who play stuff like Angry Birds and Farmville, and that's a huge market that's not very tech-savvy and will believe anything Apple says about "quadcore graphics". Although you have to remember that even though the Chinese tablets may have more power, games on Android are 99% shit.

Then why mention consoles at all? that market you mention is mostly middle age women, not even the lowest form of casual console user (the kind that gets a X360 just for COD, or like I saw over at europe a PS3 only for 1 or 2 soccer games) plays these games, not as much as to splurge $500 for a tablet...

What apple did today is akin to chevy saying mustang owners like the cruze: if chevy actually did that you wouldnt hear the end of it

Thats why chevy makes the camaro, and until apple comes up with their own camaro (a console or something with and actual controller) they can GTFO

 

But they're great for emulation on the go, especially now you can hook up a Six Axis to android...:friendly_wink:

 

I've been patiently waiting to get a tablet, hoping for something interesting to hook me in. If the Six Axis can be used with Android and emulators... that might be my ticket in! Although, I still think tablets are a poor medium for games.

 

You can use any bluetooth controller. I play Sonic CD with my Wiimote all the time. Numerous android games have hidden keyboard mappings, which can be useful when connecting a bluetooth controller.

Alternatively, get a smartphone with a keypad, then use one of these babies:



A game gripper. These things are ace, I have one for my epic 4g. turns it into basically the perfect portable handheld emulation device, since I A) always have it on me, and B) the game gripper is rubber and tiny and can be slipped into your pocket with change.

 

With the amount of battery that smart uses just to keep WiFi and 3G running is low enough, let alone playing a game.

Tablets are not consoles, nor are they even gaming machines, I see them as a portable movie player and that's it. This whole deal of Apple making out that the iPad is the best invention ever, they should realise tablets have been around for a long time.

I'd buy a tablet also to read Manga, but that's about it really.

I'm never going to use a phone as a primary gaming device.
It's already bad enough how the Vita has become this "Phone like" device where when you connect to CMA to transfer media Sony can remotely access everything you've done on the machine and you have to be permanently connected to the internet for it to work. So if you are on a plane with your laptop and a Vita or anywhere else you don't have internet. You are fucked. OF course unless you use OpenCMA. Which is a godsend.

Tried to play SF4 on iphone - controls were horrible. So no way tablets or touchscreen phones will be real gaming devices. Just for Angry Birds etc.

That's why i'm not going to buy this crap until it will be hacked to the last screw. And that's why it will fail.

 

What we are forgetting is tacos rule. Anyway the new president of apple is as respectable as steve the main difference is he seem to make less calculated decision when it come to p.r. Another thing is he doesn't realize that he is putting his foot in his mouth when saying such things.

 

I thought it was odd thing for him to say and my first thoughts were just that it didn't apply to hardcore gamers, and why would it? Surely Apple just arranged for the survey to be representative of their customer base, which would only include a small percentage of gamers.

Then I thought about my own gaming recently, and to be honest if someone asked me which platform I play most games on then I'd have to say iOS, just because I always have it with me at all times, so the hours do clock up!

 

Phones should be used for phone related activities.
Communication.

Unless your wearing a lycra onepiece then we have these amazing inventions called pockets & bags

And yet weirdly enough i have no problem carrying around items to do the jobs i need, i have my phone in my coat, i have my mp3 player in my coat & my DS in my backpack i have no need for a phone that does it all. It's not like we live in the era of the gamegear & lynx anymore with massive handhelds.
