After the re-release of the Nintendo Wii, I've seen stores selling Wii Sports for $30! $30!!! what the hell is going on here? The Wii has been on sale for a few years now, and just on it's theoretically last year they start selling Wii Sports!? If you ask me this is really weird, I know Japan it's not bundled but in the US, Europe and Australia have had Wii Sports included with the Wii for ages...Until now. When you see the "new" model 2 Wii it either comes bundled with Mario Kart Wii or Donkey Kong Country Returns.. Who in their right mind would buy Wii Sports it's more of a tech demo than anything else.. Thoughts?
I think you should look at the number of people who purchased a Wii just for wii sports, I really can't talk about international figures but here in SA I would say its about 80%,I even know of a few people who never bothered getting any other games except for sports resort and sports that came with the console. So maybe nintendo thinks there is still a market for it and they can make a bit extra by selling it separately , most people know it and most new customers expect it so it sounds like they will still make money from it. PS I haven't seen a single new model of wii here, only the old ones with gamecube ports, and the market is flooded with them.
Model 2 only came out a few weeks ago, and along with Wii Sports.. but it was a pack-in game why sell it separate? Every pre-owned game store sells Wii Sports for $5-$10.
Cause you are going to have people that buy the Wii for Christmas and want Wii Sports new. Didn't you learn anything at captailist bastards 101?
I bought Wii Sports used (it was in the used game section) at Gamestop in 2008. I bought it along with a Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Mario Galaxy. That was a good day.
Every Wii sold here, comes with at least 1 game. Blue has Donkey Kong, Black has Mario Kart Wii.
Money fabulous cash. Well Nintendo's officially sucks as of the Wii generation and I won't discus otherwise.
Exactly the only bundle I have seen lately is the Mario Kart and wheel. Maybe with extra shovelware games before that was the mario 25th bundle but I think that did come with wii sports. Clever marketing by Nintendo especially considering the Wii U willbe out soon and all the unknowing parents etc. out there.
I asked myself the same question for 2 weeks after selling 2 copy of wii sport on ebay, one of them went for like 30 or 35$. Really got me confused:shrug: I never understood up until today. In Montréal, pretty much any Wii bundle was sold with a copy of Wii sport up until today as far as I could see in store.
Also the fact is if ur original disk got scratched, trodden on, used as a frisbee your only options toget a new copy was to busy another wii, secondhand places, ebay etc.
The blue wii dk pack is probably I regional thing. Here in Australia I have not seen it sold individually, only with Donkey Kong Country.
The US black New Super Mario Bros pack does not have wii sport either. It's also that new type without gamecube mode...
It's better that Nintendo includes a dareIsay stronger Wii game with the hardware than Wii Sports. (Although! Wii Sports is good..) And yeah, lack of GCN support sucks. BUT, we've had 5 years to get it included new or used.
