Ok, so searching the web hasn't given me much info, just people having the same issue. Hopefully it is an easy and safe fix and not a fix that requires some shady stuff. So about a year ago, I was able to connect to LAN servers perfectly fine on both 1.6.4 and 1.7.2. Then one day after a couple Minecraft updates, LAN servers stopped working for me. I didn't really play much MC then so no big deal, I just gave up with them and played by myself or over Hamachi. I got sick of Hamachi for some reason and uninstalled it. Recently, my closest friend got Minecraft for PC. Her and I wanted to play together over LAN so we started up a LAN game and guess what? We couldn't get it to work. We tried everything except the unsafe stuff. I'm stumped and don't know what to do now. Do you have any ideas or a fix on how to get LAN games working again in Minecraft 1.8.4? Any help would be highly appreciated!
Have you tried forwarding your ports? If LAN works in Hamachi that means it's more than likely something on your computer's side. Disabled firewall and then try it? It's likely you did, but I still gotta ask.
I will not and shall not disable my firewall due to the severe security risks (my dad has control over it anyway and he will say no). It is on my computer's end but I have read about multiple people with the same issue online. It could be an update issue too. McAfee says her computer is untrusted and I can't undo it since she doesn't have McAfee anymore, even though McAfee insists she does.
We've tried that already and it didn't work. Sorry if I sounded rude. I don't want to open the firewall because it can lead to hackers and viruses. I don't even know how and my dad wouldn't even let me.
Then sorry, I can't be of much help to you o.e FYI, Disabling firewall doesn't mean a flood of hackers will come in and kill your PC. I've been without antivirus for 4 years, with no viruses or malware. It's a matter of knowing what you download. Unless you already had a dormant virus on your PC that somehow knows you disabled firewall, disabling it won't lead you to get hacked. You can enable it right after.
Could you describe your setup for me? Both have Windows? If so, which version? Wireless or Wired connections? etc.
Thank you anyway. I would try disabling the firewall but I don't have access to it. Both of us have Windows 8.1. We are using wireless connections.
