Why aren't songs like this in the charts anymore?

Found this on an old compilation CD. It was well known when it came out but had slowly slipped from my memory.

Put it on YouTube for the world to enjoy once more.

If only game music was mainstream these days. There are some true classics out there which deserve to be heard by all!

Ah yeah - I remember that too LOL.
    * Think the Dr Spin track came out earlier though. Not sure.

Had a quick check in the Guiness Hit Singles book:

Tetris: released 8th Oct 1992, reached no. 6 in the chart, in chart for 8 weeks.
Super Mario Land: released 31st Oct 1992, reached no. 8 in the chart, in chart for 8 weeks.

So actually, they came out pretty close together! :)

PS: FACT! Doctor Spin is actually the pseudonym of Andrew Lloyd-Webber, writer of countless musicals. I'm sure he probably wishes to forget that, though!

Ha! Well, done - I should have checked myself instead of mindlessly posting a complete guess LOL.
Also, didn't know that about Mr Lloyd Webber...mind you, always thought he was a nob so my opinion of him remains valid, which is good :)

I didn't realize Super Mario Land had such tiny sprites. I had played it before, but that was a looooong time ago...
