If you're expecting one my A-hole posts.......sorry. What it is, is that I tend to buy the same game........twice. I have countless Namco Museiums floating around, 2 copies maybe more of CVS 2. I own a few KOFs more than once over. 3 copies of Ikaruga not counting burns and I downloaded Guilty Gear XX #reload to my 360 dispite having the disc. So...Why WHY do we do this? I know I'm not the only one that does this.
Well I don't. I consider it being way better to sell doubles and enlarge the actual collection with different games for the money.
There's people who for example, buys a sealed copy and an opened one for playing, but, everybody does usually sell doubles anyway... :/
Yeah well I should mention that the duplicates are never for the same same. Ikaruga I have on Gamecube, Dreamcast and 360. CVS 2 on XBOX and Dreamcast KOFs on Dreamcast and PS2
Ok, then I do this just as well. Ikaruga, for example, is never the same game. Dreamcast has authentic slowdowns, GameCube shitloads of modes to choose from and XBLA is the exclusive rip-off version. KoFs von DC have VGA support. You could continue this list to infinity. But owning the same games in the same versions is quite pointless to me, though I must admit that I sometimes have "sealed" copies of games that I already have in open state.
It could also be the possibility of having something "new" again. Though you may already have the same game, you're using different hardware, so it's "different enough" to warrant getting. Also, different/new features as mentioned above.
I think I've had less than 50 games total (cartridges + discs) my entire life. For those who may misinterpret the above, I am not implying that I possess a hard drive full of ROMs/ISOs as a substitute...
Depending on the game, I do that too, but if one version is better then the other ones I usually have that one, i.e. last generation I always got the game for Xbox or Gamecube. I almost have every version of Battletoads though.
Back in the 16 bit days 2 versions of the same game on 2 platforms means 2 different games. So in that respect yeah totally understandable. And how many mutlisystems owners will buy Soul Calibur IV twice?
Im considering getting the non portable version of Metal Slug Anthology, because it has severe slowdown errors on the PSP version. Not sure if it runs better on the Slim PSP though.
We? I think this sort of practice of buying multiple copies of games is really just a small percentage of gamers. Personally I don't partake in this philosophy...one copy of a game is sufficient for me. Any more and you're just wasting money.
With new games, no, thats too fucking expensive. A few years later, maybe. I have all 3 SC's for last gen since there so cheap now.
I've seen quite a few peoples collections here who have like 4 copies of the same game. I think people that do that are hoarders, myself. Like people who have more than 1 copy of any boxed WD game or Valkyrie Profile.
you're just saying balls-out that you have it as a main source, instead of a substitute. You seem to forget that some of us here actually write terms and conditions
Slowdown errors? You do remember that the Metal Slug games on NeoGeo had plenty of slowdown in them right? If you don't then you played them on an emulator overclocked to eliminate it or something. The Slim PSP has more RAM available which is handy when emulating NeoGeo games with the NeoGeo MVS emulator. But regular games aren't supposed to use any of that extra RAM as it would break compatibility with the fat psp.
If you're getting the PS2 version then great, but don't get it if you plan to play it on a PS3. The emulaton is quite patchy, some games crashing.
Ugg, really? With all games? Are there any improvements in the emulation, like (sometimes) with 360 Xbox BC?
No, but a mistake on my part. I shouldn't have used the word 'substitute' but instead should've written that me having few games doesn't imply that I keep some sort of ratio of physical games to warezed games (ex: "I have few original games, but I'd rather just download everything I want"). So back to what you wrote... no, as I don't even have those ~50 games as both originals & backups. My second sentence was just so that no one would jump to that conclusion (it happens on this forum... maybe I should've even left the sentence out), but I really didn't expect anyone to comment on it. All of that is totally irrelevant to this thread, but anyway, I just realized the only games that I have duplicates of are both the North American (3x) & Japanese (2x) versions of Sonic Adventure for the Sega Dreamcast. My cousin & I went through 3 different discs of the North American version of Sonic Adventure before we had one that finally worked (my TV remote fell on the 1st disc, we stole the 2nd disc from a friend of ours who apparently had it in a box of crayons, and finally had a working copy from FuncoLand (GameStop). I placed a bid on 2 different copies of the Japanese version of Sonic Adventure via eBay years ago, but didn't expect to win both of them, as they ended really cheap.
I played the emulator version was back in 2002 or 2003. Back in my ROM kiddy days. The Xbox versions didnt lag either. What all consoles is Metal Slug anthology on anyway? If its on the 360 I might get that version.
A very poor version of Metal slug 3 is on 360 I don't have it. I have anthloghy on PS2. Anyways Anthlogy is on Wii PSP and PS2
