Recently in japan theyve been releasing various history dvds that feature clips of old video games as well as talking about them for a bit, whats funny is that there collections cost a bit of dough. To import the capcom arcade history dvd or teh 20 years of famicom dvd its costs like $70!!!!!!!!!! i mean are dvds really expensive in japan?

Well, how long is the documentary? And is it one DVD or multiple ones in a nice box set?

Don't forget that if in stores like playasia, etc. anything videogame related, including DVDs automatically gets a big markup on the price just because its a videogame from japan.

I bought the two Saturn Video collections... they were like 5800 yen each, and not that hot. They were just FMV movies and gameplay movies taken from a bunch of Saturn games. No booklet included either.

Get the 20 years of famicom DVD. It is a really superb watch, really worth the money. It wasn't cheap in Japan either - so it is somewhat justified. However I haven't seen it that cheap anywhere so I guess thats how much it has to cost. The top 100 countdown of the essential famicom games are excellent and if you speak Japanese the interviews are very interesting, as are the original TV CMs. Recommended.
