I took some medicine to treat an infection (my last one fom the operation over a year ago),and it wound up mildly damaging my liver.

Luckily, the liver is the only organ that regrows, so I just have to avoid alcohol and lay off anything toxic.
Hasn't been fun however, thinking your kidneys were on fire.

I've also kicked my years long addiction for WOW.
Yes, I have been a hardcore world of warcraft user. (abuser?).

Endless hours raiding, over 60 continuous days played in the game.
Equivalent to 1440 continuous hours playtime. Spread that out over
what free time I have, and basically for the last year I've been a
    zombie living in molten core.

I would warn anyone to NOT play a game that has NO END to it
if they are like me and have semi compulsive tendencies.

Unfortunately an aunt just died suddenly of brain cancer from smoking
and now it's crystal clear what is important. Her final gift to me.

So I'm here in withdrawal, back at the wheel and working on
some seriously mindblowing event with another extreme collector.

Looking foward to seeing more of you all, and good health.

AhAh, so that's what you've been up to! My brother is also one of those PC zombies that lives his live in a fantasy online world. I haven't had a real talk with him in two years ! When I do call him it's more like I'm talking and he'll give an occasional grunt with the sound ofthe keyboard being tapped away on. So I know just what it's like. I'm glad to see that the death of your grandmother has brought some good with it, if you know what I mean.

I'm glad I can't find MMOs entertaining. Literally everyone I know who kicked the habit says it was the worst thing to happen to them. One brit I know destroyed his cds to avoid being able to reinstall it.

That is indeed one of the worst (and saddest) addictions - and people will pay for the "pleasure", too!

Glad to hear you've kicked the habit, and hope things are looking up for you.

One of the biggest contributors at shmups from years ago was lost to WOW I hear. Kind of opposite extremes.

Anyways, can you really get brain cancer from smoking? Sorry for your loss, nonetheless. It definitely runs in my family.

I doubt smoking was the one thing that caused the cancer. so many things today contribute to cancer these days. its really hard to pin down anything that might have pushed it over the edge.

but at least your back on track. part of the reason i'm wary of MMOs mostly. i'm kind of obsessive compulsive when i get started on something. thus why i don't like cleaning my room. what should take 45 minutes becomes a 48 hour extravaganza

ahh. but air *at least in cities* would really up the risk. depends on genetics too. i just try not to think about all that though. cause tech everything ups the cancer risk. food, water, air, booze, ciggarettes and so on. i'm suprised i'm not afraid of everything.... *hides in nuclear bunker with air purifiers everywhere*

I sympathize with your pain. I just had my gallbladder removed on Monday because of a half inch stone. It got so bad that I couldn't stand up straight without screaming. Hopefully, your liver heals quickly and your kidneys won't be damaged at all.

I had a friend that was absolutely obsessed with Halo 2 online. It wasn't the game per se, but that he was merely cheating in the game to gain "respect" in the Halo 2 cheating community of 13 year olds. I swear, I think thats one of the saddest things I've ever heard and/or seen about people being obsessed with a certain game. Lets just say that the stuff he was doing could land him in jail for 1000+ years (Probably overestimating, but not kidding)

Glad to see you're changing. Have you by any chance listened to those CDs I sent you a while back? What do you think of them?

    Ah...WoW...

I've avoided it like a plauge. I don't like a game that I keep on having to pay for. Glad to hear your off it though. Theres so many better things to do with your time.

Sorry to hear about your loss though...It's always terrible when somebody dies, but at least the experience has had a positive effect on you.

Summation: Huzzah. Nice to have you back. And seriously, thank you for keeping this website going even when your interest in it dipped a bit.

lol, that reminds me of Morrowind a little bit. Its almost never ends and has endless possibilities. But once you get uber 1337 it gets old no matter what you do.

Yeah, I guess. For almost 2 years, I barely heard a peep from him. When I call, he's playing Halo. When he wanted to come over, he brought over his Xbox and a lot of CDs full of hacking programs to show me his skin mods. He thought changing the gun to neon blue glow (which he claimed took 6 hours to do) was the best thing ever.

About the ONLY fun thing he made was the automatic plasma grenade pistol. I'd shoot the ground and have 50 something plasmas blow up so hard that I negate the collision detection in the sky of the level!! We didn't try it online, btw. Everything else got old fast and was just plain trivial.

I didn't know he was modding for "respect" until recently. I knew that he stole 3 month trials out of boxes at stores and used random credit card generators AS WELL AS using social engineering techniques to make some Microsoft shmuck into believing a certain account was his when it really wasn't. Basically that means he lied like hell to steal someone's account for you guys that don't know about social engineering.

I seriously thought about reporting him, but I wouldn't know who to call or what concrete evidence I could supply.

Anyways, about the "respect" bullshit. Now, I wouldn't say this guy is the smartest dude out there, but he can learn things quickly and fall into the "bad crowd" even in online games. He's already in a bad crowd now where he is, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got expelled, but I digress. The 13-15 year old punks he plays with are MAJOR babies. Someone stole someones account for beating them even though they were cheating. I was over at his house one day and heard this on the speaker: "Bitch, you won't think you so tough when I JACK YO ACCOUNT!!" That was said during the endgame lobby where the noncheater won. Also, my friend said this: "Everyone thinks I sound older." I never told him this, but its because everyone he cheats with is like 13 or whatever. Also, he was prominent enough to become AN ADMIN on like 3 or 4 modding sites. Some mods here might remember a spammer that took several different names over the years and said such AWESOME things like "Shut up homo, I just try to make a lot of post" is now a freaking Admin....ON THREE SITES. It must be a sign of the Apocalypse!:eek:h:

Lately, he's just been digging himself deeper and deeper. He's at some special school full of retards and thieves who cuss out the teacher during roll call and slam doors just to make noise and etc. He's charging people $8 to mod their Xbox so they all can copy games to it, which is done by modding the dashboard. About all you need is Linuxinstaller and some FTP client and thats it. He's making profits on basically nothing, work wise, time wise, and material wise.

I guess through all this I'm still his friend for two reasons. One being that we've been friends since we were about in second grade, and that I'm a good role model for him, imo (Everyone in my family thinks so, too, as well as his parents). I can't always be around, of course, and shit happens. Usually incredibly stupid shit.
