http://www.gfdata.de/archiv01-2007-gamefront/2701.html It's called Crush and its for the PSP. It kind of feels like Inteligent License (Practical Quotent (sp?) in NA/EUR)
Looks pretty good to me. I don't know on whose psp I'm going to play it but I can see some nice innovative puzzling going around. Actually beyond the whole 2D-3D and vice versa transition the good thing is that you still interact with the ,whatever, physical objects around. That makes it even more interesting. Also the music sounds nice, moody and jazzy, fits the atmosphere nicely. Personally mairsil, I don't believe it'd be short but about the repetiveness. I think that's a basic trait of puzzle games (ok,and many more ;p). But I also think I get some of your point too.
Does look cool. But it makes me hate handhelds even more. Sad that DS & PSP are the only outlets for classic gameply (or spin-offs thereof).
