Just noticed these WIFI SD cards http://uk.eye.fi/products/connectx2 Anyone knows if they work in the Everdrives? Why did I wote for a slot in the N64 Everdrive?
there is a homebrew community for the eye-fi SD card to allow you to install a custom Linux to the eye-fi and set up an adhoc wifi network to transfer files to the sd card so it might be possible
Yeah only thing that would be kind of annoying is having to have the console on to send the files over since it would need the power, but it would for sure be cool anyways. Igor would just need to redo PCBs to fit whole eye-fi card in cart and now you have a nice looking wireless EverDrive!
first of all any wifi connection have some settings like access point, password, etc, also usually we need some driver, but how you imagine wifi connection setup on everdrive?
wifi in order to backup saves to pc or a site like dropbox xD, but that isn't necessary is more like a luxury
I don't think anyone in this thread think its a needed feature, it would be more of a novelty if someone got it working. None of us really think Igor should actually do anything to get it to work. The OP was just curious about the eye-fi SD card.
He shouldn't need to should he? isnt that the whole idea behind these cards? The cards have their own cpu/memory/wifi connection etc. that writes to the storage space, which can also be accessed by the device as a standard SD card?
yeah I'm a bit confused, I was of the impression that the cards themselves handle all the wireless setup / connection / etc independently of the device they are in. Personally I think it'd be cool, since I'm not part of the 'drilling holes all over your cart kicks ass' club
the newer cards are capable of adhock networking but it is only one way networking meaning the cards DONT support being written to over wifi
Like angel said, the cards are designed to get your pictures off your camera or other device. Not to put files onto it. So out of the box its functionality would be severely limited in an EverDrive. I was just telling bertobp that we are all just speculating here on if it would work and and what its function would be. Just making it clear that we don't think this is a feature Igor should add (if it indeed required something from his end).
I spent 300 dollars on the Wildcard DX2 and spent the same on the Z64, with a job come many possibilities and opurtunities 50GBP is peanuts.
This would actually be useful for me...to a degree. I will often take save files from my everdrive and move then to my phone or dropbox to continue playing when Im away. I
