I must say, those boxes look pretty cool. I wouldn't trade them for the original packagings, but they definitely seem like the nicest solution if you have to store unboxed hardware. How did you make the Nomad box? I imagine plastic must be really hard to fold
No paint involved there. I'm making silicone molds of the buttons so I can cast new ones. Specifically, I'm going to test out a set of clear red buttons for a GBA that I've just modded with some extra LEDs. The LEDs are right next to the buttons, and I'm hoping that the clear buttons will light up nicely when all is said and done Here's a quick vid so you get a feel for what I'm saying. Don't get me wrong, I've got a stockpile of old cart boxes, but I a) don't like to store them in the boxes, and b) I don't have boxes for all of em, which would make storing them in their boxes a mixed bag. Plus, it's too damned pricey to buy SNES CIB anymore. Screw that :/ The Nomad box I got lucky with. I believe I got that box and another (they're pretty thin and flexible, not super sturdy ABS or anything) from some holiday lights. I've worked with that sort of stuff in sheet form to make prototype packaging for a company that I used to work for (I'm about 99% sure it's PET). It's actually really easy to work with, which is nice. I modded it down in size a bit, cut some foam to support everything, then just made up a cover
Had good luck with the 1st casting. Minimal air bubbles, but they're a tad pinker than I wanted. Gonna plop em in the red GBA and see what happens. I'm gussing they won't look nearly as pink surrounded by all the dark red.
Custom SNES. Also those buttons look rad, almost like Candy. It's not something i'd want in my GBA personally since i like the original grey buttons. But it's still pretty dang good looking
Modded. Something that I'm working towards offering for various systems. Basically modern shells designs for older consoles. Working on having replacement for the SNES phat and consolized MVS first. This was a SNES mini proto that I did, but have sorta put on the back burner since I did the math and realized its not likely I could recoupe tooling costs. I may offer them on a one-off basis once I've got the 3D printer in house. It's CAD built and printed in natural/raw ABS with paint, decals, and extra lighting. And honestly, they're not so much my style, but I know it's hard to go wrong with LEDs and clear parts in the console modding world
Nice collection! Combining 2x UGCs to make a big case to store handheld consoles was a great idea! Where did you get the cases for your handheld games though?

Well, the old DS cases had a slot for GBA games, and with a little modification they'll accept GB and GBC games. With a little more modification they'll hold pretty much anything from WonderSwan, to Neo Geo Pocket, to TG-16, and pretty much whatever else. Just a matter of how much slicing and dicing you're willing to do

Very nice collection indeed, Kudos! Also I reckon you could make loads if you combined genesis/32x/mega cd into a single case that looks a sexy as that SNES one. Any plans on the horizon for such a project? (Not necessarily that specific one, but something similar?)
