the issue with wii isnt that much the resolution, but the horsepower in total. By that i mean the lack of polygon-pushing ability compared to the 360 or ps3, let alone in higher resolutions. If the wii could achieve similar poly-count to that found on the average 360 game, even in standard ED (480p) resolution, I would be more than thankful. Unfortunately, that doesnt seem to be the case, and this will be ever more evident towards the Wii's twilight years. That said, the novelty of Wii could wear-off as soon as the graphics start to get ever more obsolete, and the whole hype/head-start of today is going to be good and gone.

On the topic of region freeness.. nintendo could be clever on this one. By allowing the download of a different version of the firmware at any time, Wii consoles could be forced to that specific region, no matter where they were bought. On the downside, and just to keep people from downloading a different region version each time, they could force a "delete all" tactic, so that the potential region-changing candidate will think twice before region-changing his console's firmware.

It would be good for moving units too. If the firmware isnt factory-set and locked to a specific region, moving unsold units from one region to another with only the firmware changed by a simple update (by nintendo before region-specific packacing) could be a simple and efficient solution!
