Hey guys, I need some help with figuring out a couple problems I've been having with the disc drive in my Wii.

So, whenever I try to insert a disc into the Wii it doesn't want to accept the disc unless I try and insert it a few times. After I finally get the Wii to accept the disc it reads it without any problem.

The other problem I've been having is that whenever I eject a disc, it doesn't stop partially out so you can grab it, it just keeps ejecting until the disc is entirely spit out onto the floor.

Any ideas? I still haven't found a good solution to this.

From what I've gathered all wii drives are universal, and you can swap it for a used on one ebay. You can also mod it with sundriver, wode or wiikey. I'm partial to wode. In AZ I occasionally find a wii that doesn't boot/no video(cd drive should work in this situation) for less than 30 bucks.
If you like this answer, please add to my reputation on the board. This should be the star on the pink/orangish line below my post.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure I'd want to replace the whole drive if it can be fixed otherwise, seeing as it can still read the discs perfectly. The problem is just getting the discs in and out.

Using Wii DVDs are a thing of the past. However if you're really wanting to fix this, maybe seeing if Nintendo will repair it for you... Sometimes if it's a factory fault they'll help you out.

Well, I doubt Nintendo would want to repair it considering it's well out of warranty.

I was mainly asking if anyone had any ideas on how to fix the drive so I don't have to replace it unless it would be completely necessary.

Sounds a bit like the sensor that identifies when a disc is fully inserted/ejected is faulty. It is a combination of an LED and a sensor that basically checks whether it can see a disc.

Here's a possible solution to the problem: http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-modchip/11982-wii-eject-issue-possible-fix.html

...except if you're like most normal people and don't tend to mod their consoles. :p

Thanks for the link, mooseblaster. I'll be sure to check it out.

Edit: After looking around for a while I came across a few different places selling replacement drive sensors like this one: http://www.elitasia.com/wii-dvd-drive-sensor-board .
Does anyone know if that could fix the problems I've been having? I'd much rather try changing out a board than bridging points as shown in that guide since I don't have a lot of soldering experience.
