I checked but I couldn't find an answer on google, so I figured I'd run it through here.

While I was playing Okami it freezed during a loading screen. I had to unplug the power cable, but ever since the Wii disc drive is a lot more ''present'' to say the least. I'm rather scared since it's not my Wii that it's broken (and it's outside of the warranty). I checked some of the youtube clips but those are definitely louder than mine. When I sit about 2 meters away from it I can hear the disc drive, and with the tv on normal/not loud I can slightly hear. And now I'm doubting how much sound it is supposed to make.

I tried having the Wii in different positions but to no avail. Anyone care to share some thoughts on the matter?

I haven't read it yet but I know mmmonkey has something up. You should check it out: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/other/wii-noise.htm

My Wii was ever so quite then about a year ago the disc drive became the nosiest thing on the planet. It really is loud but seems to work fine since it changed from a quiet nice drive to the noisy monster.

Just cause it's louder doesn't mean there is a serious problem. Not all drives will make the same amount of noise and unless it's making some really loud noise and maybe scratching sounds or something, I wouldn't worry about it. Now if it catches fire that might be a bad sign.

You could try installing that program that lets you play games off a USB harddrive if you are worried about the drive crapping out on you.
