Hi all Will the wii console still function with the DVD drive removed or does it do a check at some point and stop the console from functioning correctly? Ta B
As far as I recall, you will need either the DVD drive board or a DVD drive replacement like the Wasp Fusion.
Oh ok can I ask another question. Can I remove the annologue sticks on a gamecube controller without it freaking out and doing like ghost movements?
Is there a solution that keeps the wii perminatly on. What I mean is as soon as I push the power socket in the back the wii powers on without the use for the on/off button
hi Beaps , i remember taking out one of my WII DVD Drives and running NeoGamma and it threw up a error message saying no DVD Drive sort of thing. Btw are you the famous Beaps where GadgetUK repaired your Neo Geo AES on Youtube ?
What are you trying to build? A wii with no DVD drive that can't be powered off and is controlled by a gamecube controller with no sticks, or are these separate projects?
I consider it just breaking the consoles but alright. Like what if the power falls out? Youre screwed!
Yer that's me from YT, not sure about famous hahah. Ok I am building a Wii2Jamma. I've stripped the dvd rom and kept the pcb connected so I'm hoping it still thinks it's still there. I'm also hardwiring a GC controller to port1 and storing it inside the console. I'll be fitting a sync stripper and an RGB amp, a bit similar to the DC one I just posted on YT. So basically I need to turn the console on when I switch on the arcade machine. So I need to lock on the power button somehow. I don't think it's as easy as joining the 2 legs on the power switch as would the Wii think I'm holding the button and power back off?
Yer I guess so as the Wii is a tricky bugger to mod the power on I reckon and I could run into problems.
You can't just remove them, you'll need to install resistors or pots to keep console think that sticks are in the neutral position. Same applies to any system which has controllers with those sticks, including PC of course. I did it with broken Wii classic controller , used is as a board for DIY arcade stick which works with Wii and PC (win, linux, mac) or Raspberry Pi etc with either USB adapter or just wiimote and bluetooth.
Ok so I got it all up and running but I am getting some noise on the screen? Here is what I've done - made a sync stripper to enable a clean sync - used a rgb amp to boost the dull image Can you see the kinda checkers effect. Any idea how to get rid?
