From a system spec sheet on press.nintendo.com: "Virtual Console: Wii will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo® 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System® (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System® (NES). The Virtual Console also will feature a “best of†selection from Sega Genesis titles and games from the TurboGrafx console (a system jointly developed by NEC and Hudson). It also will be home to new games conceived by indie developers whose creativity is larger than their budgets." Dust off those old manuals
oh how original nintendo *rolls eyes* anyway now that i got that out. What kind of indy. like classic indy or rev indy? what it take to be aproved?
It will be "indy" as in you still need a tax ID and a body cavity search before they will even talk to you about licensing one... And how do you access Nintendo's press site?
You need to either be press or have friends in it that are willing to share their login details with you.
Go to http://press.nintendo.com/ and when prompted for name and password, the name is "media" and the password is "E32006" Got this off Sensible Erection.
Interesting stuff. I could start a thread but I think I' ll just talk about it here. Nintendo is using products from Analog Devices ( www.analog.com/imems ) instead of their own Gyration ( www.gyration.com ) company. More specifically instead of the MG1101 they will use one of the three ADXRS Gyros gyroscopes found here with prices ranging from 22 to 30 dollars per gyroscope, and accelerometers found here that have a max. price of about 12 dollars. It's really odd how nintendo now owns gyration but has chosen products from another company. take time to compare the specs (the gyration specs can be found here ). Based on this , the fact that Nintendo bought Gyration isn't because they wanted to develop a new controller for their console, but the actual acquisition of Gyration perhaps gave them the idea in the first place, which they later went on to use a better candidate to place inside their controllers.:033:
Back to the indie games, does this mean that we might see a system similar to a Yaroze for the revo...er...Wii?
The wiki entry on Wii says official devkits are to be $2000, which is dirt cheap in comparison to everything else. EDIT: source
http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/690/690730p1.html Studios tell IGN that Revolution SDKs sell for about $2,000, which is thousands of dollars cheaper than a PSP SDK, let alone an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 one.
