I've made an effort to help but have hit a ton of roadblocks as well.

Any help to get these working (or re dumped) would be appreciated. It's been months lol.

Yeah it's been way to long. And again thanks for your efforts in trying.

So Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games retail has: 10684 files on disk. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Review) has: 10704.

Sonic Colours retail has: 91 but the beta only has 44.

So I managed to extract some part of the Colours image through dolphin (extract option). I have no idea what this can be used for. HxD shows it's encrypted as well.

drx is busy with some personal things at the moment and hasn't had a lot of time, afaik. These days you might have a better chance idling on #protos in order to talk with him, as I think he only logs on here periodically to make announcements. Although I doubt he could help you out with these specifically, since he hasn't gotten around to looking at his own Wii stuff yet.

As for these prototypes, these are really neat! Were any other RVT-Rs dumped/decrypted before? I think your dumps are the very first that are publicly available.

Your best bet for figuring these out would be to contact crediar, since I believe he was one of the first to figure out how to dump them. I believe he even figured out a method to get them working on retail hardware. But this was a few years a go.

EDIT: I got Sonic Colours to work in Dolphin and compared all the files with the final. As you said everything is identical to the PAL final. The main executable is 1:1 with the final.

For future reference for those that have RVT-R dumps and are looking to play them in Dolphin, as long as you have the key to decrypt the files with WiiScrubber like Demon did here you can actually load the files without having to use the ISO with just an extract of the main files, the apploader, and the main.dol file. In Dolphin, just go to the Config, go to the Paths tab, and set "DVD Root" to the directory with all the extracted game files, set "Apploader" to the directory the game partitions apploader.img. Finally, click OK and click "Open" at the top left, and double click on the game partition's main.dol and the game should load up. This was tested with Colors and works fine. I'm still grabbing M&S but I'll report back if I can get that working.

Yeah I heard best way to catch was IRC but I cannot stand it sadly it's too laggy/simple for me to use. He originally was going to take these disks.

I think RVT-R's have been dumped before but as you said none have ever been posted I don't think.

I have spoken to Crediar on twitter but he sadly forgot how to get them working. He could only remember how to dump as is. (Thankfully I had one of his drives.)

Nice to hear Colours sort of works. Sadly the only major different I saw was firmware files being different. Mario & Sonic "Should" have many small changes seeing as there's extra files all over. I'm currently reinstalling my computer again but will have a play to see if I can get Mario & Sonic working. Maybe now I can try and get Ice Age 2 uploaded as I was having issues before.

If you find anything major please do keep us updated.

I think theoretically you could rebuild an unencrypted version of the original ISO dumps with all the files that can be extracted from each partition. There doesn't seem to be anything that would get in the way, especially since the games work as well as they do in Dolphin. This is definitely good to know in the future, since once drx and some other folk get around to dumping their RVT-Rs it's at least possible to play them outside of devkits in some form with little effort. Although dumping might still be an issue, I guess...

By the way, I got Mario & Sonic working with the same method. I compared all the files between this version and the final US version (the prototype is a PAL one). And here's what I noticed:

1.) In the /lua/ folder, revision_info tells what the revision number and build date of he game is. Good!

    Prototype:
    Revision 28588 2009/08/04 11:53:04

    Final:
    Revision 28600 2009/08/05 15:45:17

Unfortunately, the prototype is only a day before the final. :(

2.) This build has a usable version of ConfigUser.lua. In the final, this config file doesn't exist as the game doesn't look at the configuration files at all.

3.) In the prototype, the "FestivalWindowco.tis" file in the /csd/textures directory has been altered slightly (not sure what this is specifically).

4.) There's a spare .DS_Store file in the root directory on the disc that doesn't exist in the final.

5.) Some of the videos on the root of the disc got changed or were removed. I didn't have time to check every single one.

    6.) No sound/music differences anywhere.

    That's all I have so far... :\

Yeah I literally just got it working my end also with your idea.

EDIT: Just had a quick look at Ice Age 2 before I uploaded. For some reason one part shows as bad and main.dol is 0 bytes looks like this disk will have work. :(

EDIT2: Here's screenshots off all file changes I could see. (Most pointed out by @Knuckles500 )

    Purple = New file.

Now this could be due to me using the NTSC retail with PAL files sadly couldn't find a retail PAL iso.

EDIT3: Going back to Ice Age 2, I tried switching main.dol with the retail the only thing I get is "licensed by nintendo" and then it crashes.
