I just went to get mariokart today for the Wii and found out there is some kind of shortage and isn't available anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area. I really don't understand how this can happen in todays market. It actually makes me angry rather than more excited. Why do I have to go on a wild goose chase just to get a game that is supposed to be a high seller. Its not something that is supposed to be rare or collectible, so I don;t have any patience or sypathy for a shortage. I don't sit on the internet all day tracking stories about mariokart shortages, so it came and blindsided me today while I was out shopping. I got home and checked online and found out its true. It almost makes me NOT want to buy it. I am really too old and work to hard to have to play an "iphone style" supply and demand gimmick just to get a $50 Wii game that I will play a couple hours a week for a few months.
Probably just in your area. Went to Circuit City this morning to see if they had any Wii Fits in stock (no luck on that one) and noticed plenty of Mario Karts on the shelves.
Your not alone, in my town pretty much all store don't have it anymore. And on ebay it is going for some ridicules prices. Nintendo possibly make a low print run?
Wow, thats wierd. I got mine on a whim at Costco for 40$ when it came out. I like it but it's sort of....I dunno.
Yeah, I was expecting Mario Kart SNES/64/DS. I never owned any of them but always played them other places...so I buy one and it's like...you race and then it's basically over. I love the Wii wheel though and the WiFi is awesome.
Do you guys actually like the game? I just played it for an hour in multiplayer(4 people on one wii/tv) last weekend and was very disappointed. GC Mario Kart with 8 human players on a setup with 4 gamecubes was fast-paced, really intense fun. Wii Mario Karts controls felt very much dumbed-down and not as precise to me. It didn't feel like driving an actual vehicle, just shuffling around the tracks somehow. The stunts don't do nothing for me. And most important, the whole multiplayer mode plays SLOW AS FUCK. I was seriously bored already after a couple of matches. May have missed alot because I just played for a short time, but I don't feel like giving it another chance at all right now.
You pretty much nailed it. I like using the Wii wheel since it's a Wii game, otherwise it seems like it's not as good as the others.
N64 one will always be my personal fav. I had so much fun on that on multi-player back in the day
the n64 is the console that made multiplayer work. Can't say it has aged well in multi though with most of its games, due to the reduced frame-rate and blurry mess - compared to the HD/ED stuff we get today.
I think the reason for the N64 and the GC versions were better for mutiplayer becuase you actually had real friends around you in the same room, split screen and Lan are always a much funner experience, where as the Wii version is more about online play, and the fact that you have keep you arms out straight, that just annoys and hurts me at the same time, thank god for backwards compatable gamecube controllers :icon_bigg .
I don't like using GC controllers on Wii games aside from Smash Bros. It makes me feel like I wasted money on the Wii.
