So a friend of mine posed this question to me today - He has a gaming laptop but is primarily a console gamer. However at this point he's now noticing that many shooters just aren't as well optimized for a gamepad as they should be and he would like to start playing more shooters on his PC, the problem is he loves the accuracy of a mouse but hates WASD, or using the keyboard for movement in general.

His question was: Is there a way to set it up so he could use a Wii Nunchuck in place of WASD and then use his mouse to look around and shoot? To him that's the ideal setup.

I had looked it up briefly while we were out and saw that he wasn't alone! However I also wanted to check with the community and see if anyone had any experience or ideas with this odd request :)

I dont know about a Wii nunchuck, but Probably Some adapter + joy2key(or one of the many others) would work but there is a solution that is better IMESHO.

Although that recommendation will be kept in mind and is much appreciated, for the sake of playing around with this I'm really wanting to see if we could do an actual Wii Nunchuck + mouse combo as opposed to something that's an alternative or similar. When I researched it briefly I saw similar answers with people saying to try other peripherals that might be similar.

At this point I'd really like to see if we can get the real deal working :p

You can, if you mess around a bit with Glove PIE... the official website is down, but looks like you can still find it here: https://sites.google.com/site/carlkenner/glovepie

    He will need:
    • Wiimote
    • Nunchuk
    • Bluetooth
    • GlovePIE (and configure a short script)

On mobile at the moment, is the script there as well or would we need to write one ourselves?

From memory, it's pretty much reading an example script to learn the names of the Wii buttons and then eidt/write your own to fit your needs.

If there's already a script to play FPS like on Wii, I'm pretty sure you could simply put down the wiimote and use only the Nunchuk for moving with the mouse for aiming, it won't stop the mouse from working.

People, don't overcomplicate the needs of his friend.

He just needs a Mayflash Wii Classic Controller/Nunchuk to USB Adapter, then he can use a Nunchuk as a controller. There is a older round shaped version of that who only allows Classic Controller, no Nunchuk. But the newer currently offered Version, a bit more edgy allows both and they claim, that it's possible.

Then it will differ game by game if you can use a gamecontroller together with a mouse. I know some games won't allow a combination so easily (Skyrim, Fallout 4,etc.).
So you need to use a little software like joy2key or similar to map keyboard keys to controller or vice versa.

Glovepie and Bluetooth are a bit complicated and he needs a Wiimote additionally. As I remember correct you may even need something as VJoy to have a true analog Analogstick, afaik Joy2Key lets a Analogstick only work as a 4 directional Input, like a D-Pad.

There is only one Bluetooth adapter I can absolutely recommend for using Wiimote wireless and it's peripheral with a computer, the Mayflash Dolphin Bar. it is made for Wii. emulation, like the name says. You can use a Nunchuk over a Wiimote perfectly then, because it is optimized and has no lag. Not sure how to map buttons with that for something else, than Dolphin, should work.

Know nothing about this wireless Classic Controller USB Connector:

btw. look at what I found while searching http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2631675

    Best choice for alltime:
Blissbox 4-play together with Wiimote connection cables, that's what I can use. 8)

This seems super close, if not pretty much what would be ideal. I'll show him this!

Dude! Kick-ass response, it seems that's exactly what he's wanting! Literally a way of just connecting the nunchuck via USB, and then I'm sure it could be optioned easily enough to change it to replace WASD.
