It would be cooler of they just gave the Wii to someone in the line.

Somebody smashing a wii... I could really care less. On the donation column, somebody donating $49 to the people doing this... I'm flabbergasted.

man , this isnt right:( smashing a PS3 is ok, a Ps3 has no soul. But a Wii? I d chop that guy's nuts off and run them over with a truck. Shame. Truly.

And I hope the guy who donated the 49bucks gets something bad done to him :( (arse cancer or something)

That said, I hope they kept the dead wii for an autopsy. I m really interested on the mobo and the drive, for homebrew purposes, and compatibility of existing tools and applications.

(smash my wii sounds naughty and mazochistic btw)

You could've donated the money to charity that you instead used to buy that PC of yours. How dare they spend money which was DONATED to them on something they want to do.

Yeah, you tell'em. Spending money to smash wii > feeding and clothing children. Lets get together a fund right now and start saving so we can have someone smash the PS4 and the Wii 2. I won't be able to sleep at night knowing the look on the fanboys faces ten years from now. In fact, why don't we just spend that money and devote some time to engineer our own console... just so we can smash it!

You missed my point. Even if they DIDN'T smash it, the money wouldn't have gone to charity anyways. Plus you're giving them the reaction they desire by complaining.

No, they want a reaction "oh my god I can't believe your doing that oh woe is me I won't be able to live because you smashed my precious console that I stood in line for sooo long to get". Mine, and most everybody elses reaction is "who gives a f**k?". All I can say to the owner of the website is, nice job Beavis.

I dont understand people who donate to things like this. Not because they should have used it to give to charity or whatever but dont they have better things to do with their money? Why give $49 to break a console instead of buying your self another game or going out to diner or something.

I dont get what the pleasure is with seeing bits of plastic broken everywhere and likely filling the sites runners pockets with cash.

It's not for the bits of plastic, it's for the fanboys reaction.

The creators are laughing all the way to the bank with the ad revenue the site brings in. Its all about the $$ now. Social experiment my ass, they've smashed everything from an ipod to a 360. The experiment is played out, they just do it for the cash now.

I think that its an ego thing. Alot of people, myself including, don't think to fondly of those who would willingly camp out in the freezing cold and rain for days just to get a piece of plastic, metal, and silicon that will become a commodity in a few weeks/months. Now, I certainly wouldn't go as far to take pleasure in hitting these people with pellet guns or smashing the console, but I'm sure the people who donate to stuff like this do. It just gives them a sense of smug satisfaction like they've "one-upped" the people camping out.

I don't like these things because its old. I've got a good sense of humor, and can laugh at just about anything. I didn't think this was funny the first time I saw it, and I didn't really find it that funny the next x amount of times someone did it. It's like someone comming up to you and going "whazzzzuppppp", or seeing someone wearing a Big-Johnson tshirt or watching someone trying to do the macarana.

Well ,since this is out of fashion, let's collect money and smash rare dev hardware. (not that anyone else besides the members of this community would get heart-broken if a PS2 TOOL was hammered to pieces)

Not so rare, but I'll let someone smash an Xbox Debug if they donate enough money to me.

Right, I'm constantly basing what I buy on what else I could get for the same money. I'm still shocked about people spending thousands on a soon to be common PS3. Think about what kind of dev/rare goods you could buy with some mediocre connections.

Let's just hope they keep this to consumer electronics and stay away from pet stores. OMG PetSmart is releasing these cute new siamese kittens....(I think I just made myself sick)
