Tried to access the Shop Channel and it asked me to perform a system update. I'm on a PAL system, softmodded to 4.1, Priiloader active. I know already that it 'just' updates the Shop Channel itself and installs an IOS62... -Did anyone perform this update with a softmodded (4.1) Wii? -Will it actually update to 4.3.1? -Will it brick it? I don't think it will, but still asking here...
Did exactly that just now; downloaded Shop Channel and IOS62 WADs via NUS Downloader, installed them, and can now access the shop again.
OK, doing this now. (can't recall if the webmarshal previously allowed this at work or not) Still.... Seriously, wtf? So I hope they are referring to the NUS method which you recommended, as I read this as 'update your wii when asked'.
There are hacked updaters by Wanikoko, which caused issues. That is what they are referring to by "patched updaters". You are fine to update the shop channel as described above.
not the best place to ask, but i will just shoot away. i have a pal wii. i installed the latest shop channel via wad. changed the shop channel to us via any region changer. accepted eula etc. all works fine. i can access the us shop. i downloaded the youtube app. i get black screen when i choose the youtube app. my tv says "unsupported mode". wii is connected via component. tv is a samsung and it accepts whatever i throw at it from component including the infamous 240p. i tried to force various vmodes via usb loader gx and all gives the same black screen with unsupported mode warning.
Because your Wii is PAL.Not NTSC. WADs must comply with your region of your system otherwise it won't work or display some error, same goes for VC games.
i usually region-free all my wads so i just forgot i haven't done this to youtube app. but of course i can't do that for youtube app as it can't be packed as .wad for some strange reasons according to gbatemp. so i will just region-free channels via priloader. i don't want to fully convert my wii to a ntsc one.
It's just a tiny update related to the upcoming channel you can download that enables you to transfer all your save data + WiiShop purchases to a WiiU. (I've heard people have had no problems doing that on softmodded Wiis in the US, so guess EU is fine too.)
i am not interested in ios62. i will be a happy man if i can stream youtube via my wii. my smart tv is not so smart when it comes to youtube.
That is because the "smart" label is marketing to get putzes to buy stuff. Like "retina" display despite the Nexus 10 having a higher pixel density and being even more retina-y.
yay. nowadays you can't buy just a tv. it has to have zibillion extra options which are mostly half-done and you have to pay for that half-done features. i couldn't find a "stupid" tv with 55inch display.
