Hello everyone n_n , this is my first post but i was lurking here since a long time ago! Long story Short : i just purchased a weird wii u console WIS-001(some weird connectors on the back) wich is working, but i dont have peripherals or cables to test it out untill tomorrow The Pics (i didnt took a picture from the front because is 100% same of the Original Wii U): so.. now the question, if is a Kiosk Demo Unit(the sticker almost pointing that) there's a way to get out of the kiosk mode and make it Retail?
Did a bit more research, and found this out; http://wiiudaily.com/2013/12/wii-u-developer-console/ I believe this is just a demo unit, that's my take on this anyway.
Totally off topic, but nice font on that screen! What is it? I'm not seeing anything on a WIS-001 - odd. It does say it's for demonstration purposes, so it might have been used either in a pod or a show display - perhaps an early demonstration unit at a show? DRC = display remote controller
Must be an early kiosk then since, how the kiosks are here in Australia; Also the WiiU is hidden from customer view:
That's not a picture of the rear view either. The rear side of that panel connects the cables to the Wii U I'd assume.
I never said it was, who do you take me for? There's nothing from plain view, even from the back. There's a Wii U inside the blue area, just like the XBOX ONE kiosks, it's a dummy or a retail in view.
@OP The sticker says "for display purposes only, not for resale" its a kiosk/store unit 100% Nice unit tho!
Hello and Thanks for your answers! n.n and yes... its a kiosk unit , it turns on and start a video loop of the early games demos of the wii u , i got it from a garage sale in texas really cheap xD . i opened the console to see in detail the ''rare'' pcb and i found that it has a internal usb mini port and the main chip of the pcb is a Pic18F so it seems more like an Avr. and the only connector that goes on that pcb came from another pcb that is connected to the motherboard and the front panel . my guess is that is kinda like a conversor to make the controller Wired instead of wireless (avoid battery's because this things are turned on a lot of hours and to avoid interferences in the electronics shops) and unfortunately i dont have the controller of the unit to test further and it doesnt accept the normal wii u controller.
it's a drawing i did on the tablet pc for the purpose to show that it's not a picture downloaded from the internet , that's why is on the picture xD i use it mostly for illustration and 3d sculpting thanks to the Wacom technology(stylus with pressure sensitivity) that the display has. this is a drawing i've been working on lately
Maybe it doesn't accept the gamepad, as it might lack the bluetooth module (if the gamepad connects by bluetooth). Can you connect a WiiMote? Seems like you got a nice piece though hehe :> Oh and love your art!
for information, Kiosk and debug hardware are SAME ! Nintendo can change/install the firmware for launch dev disc/files or launch kiosk mode ! (file on external HDD) KIOSK CONSOLE CAN'T READ RETAIL GAME !! (maybe it can, but nintendo don't want) Nintendo have make special Retail kiosk with 2 gamepad output they can read retail game Gamepad on kiosk have 6 PIN power in & coax (signal input) (alternative gamepad have 4 Pin with button adaptator) the Mini USB on Wii U is for Wiimote controller ! Demo mode (and RETAIL on few game... ) can take control and turn On/Off wiimote/nunchuk for additional players ALL hardware on Kiosk are region locked with "kiosk" country. you can't use this material (gamepad) on retail hardware. but, you can use wireless wiimote
hmmm, they can read retail game, work like retail unit but can't accept retail gamepad. it need wired gamepad. When you turn kiosk "ON", you need to launch gamepad before (hidden button) the back is not the same as the current kiosk. picture later
