Wii U Owners, How do you feel about all the Switch rereleases?

The wii u and the 3do were not pieces of shit, just marketed incorrectly, misunderstood or overpriced. I am not even sure you can compared them as the 3do was way ahead of its time technology wise while the wii u was outdated hardware on release.

Adding the ouya as an example? Lol I am not even going to go there.

I have the feeling you didn't experience the generation of 3do and jaguar, or were way too young to truly understand what was going on.

 

I rettract my Pokken stance though I feel single player is too easy and the people online are too good.

It's 2018 and I'm very VERY tempted to pick up a 3D0 and Jaguar. 3DO has the FM Towns version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Jaguar has....INTERESTING games. Even the shitty fighters like Kasumi Ninja are good for a laugh or two. Plus it has a great port of Raiden.

The Wii U is pretty much Obsolete now in light of yesterday's direct, all they need to do is bring over a Mario Maker. I don't think the Wii U was a piece of shit it had some ideas, poor marketing and a Controller that was far too big. Oh and being region locked didn't help it much either. Here's hoping for an Uncensored Xeno Chronicles X on Swtich next. But if anybody is thinking about a Wii U for collection reasons, now's the time, because it's going to find it's audience in 10-15 years and those games are going to skyrocket in price and that includes that shitty games too.

 

I honestly think all the well received switch ports are confirmation that the Wii U's biggest issue was unclear marketing. I had people surprised that it was its own system and not a Wii accessory as late as 2016. Personally, I'm happy more people will get to experience these games that missed out because IMO the Wii U had a lot of great games. They just happened to be mainly 1st party.

 

I'm glad that the Wii U games are getting re-released on the Switch, however it also makes me feel a bit betrayed because Nintendo just abandoned the Wii U and it's users but I guess that's the name of the game, making money.
This also means I have no plans on getting a Switch after I've invested in the Wii U and looking at the PS4, then the PS4 Pro makes me wonder if I should just upgrade my GPU and stick to modern gaming on PC and playing retro consoles that I already own, plenty of games there to keep me occupied.
I should be glad they didn't fuck us by not releasing Breath of The Wild on the Wii U

 

I weren't thinking of flipping it, but I don't think the Wii U was worth it if you could just wait two years and buy a Switch instead.

 

Well that's just bad timing then. The Wii U was out for 4 and a half years before the Switch came out. That is admittedly a little short for a consoles life span, but it's long enough to show that Nintendo at least tried to get it on its feet. By comparison, the OG Xbox was only out for 4 years before it got replaced by the 360. No one considered the OG Xbox a failure.

 

Yeah, but they didn't port every notable Xbox game to the 360.

 

But they made it (sort of) backwards compatible so you could play every notable game on the 360.

 

Why does it even matter?

People who played it first time round got to play it. People who didn't, get to play it on the new console.

Seems like you want a later generation of players to miss out on great games, just because of some sort of entitlement as you had the console before and they can't possibly deserve it too.

 

Of the 7 Switch games I have the Ones I've had the most fun with have been original to the Swtich, Odyssey and Fire Emblem Warriors. I've also really been enjoying Puyo Puyo Tetris my lone Multi Platform game currently.

The only game I don't really care for is a 3ds port of 2 games, Azure Striker Gunvolt. A game I don't like, but don't want to get rid of either.

I'm getting Ys VIII and Shining Resonance on Swtich over PS4 and since I live in the woods and are prone to long term power outages, I'm getting a travel case NOT for my PS4 but my Switch.

So I guess it's 50/50 on Ports vs originals for me so far.

I never got a Wii U. At the time, I could only afford one new console and so I had to pick either PS4 or Wii U. (Sorry Xbox )

I’m a Nintendo fanboy, guilty as charged, but from the Marketing, the Wii U seemed like another Wii to me, and I just didn’t want another Wii. Wii was fun and all, but after the gimmicks were up, I really didn’t have much fun with it other than 1.) it plays gamecube games and 2.) Super Smash and Punch Out. I wanted a solid console with online, 3rd party releases, and a solid library. The marketing made it look like you couldn’t even use a regular controller, and none of my friends had one at the time, so I just passed up the Wii U and for a PS4.

Looking back and having played it, the Wii U was pretty good, I just couldn’t tell cuz they focused so much on that damn pad, but the past is the past and we have Switch now.

Of course I’m happy they’re re-releasing all these games onto switch, but I totally get how people feel ripped off. I wish Nintendo would have some sort of discount or freebie for Wii U owners. I’m not sure how it would work, but I think maybe that would maybe help the situation out a bit.
