Hi All, I got a US Snes & a Pal Wildcard SMS3201. When I whack in the Wildcard I get no picture. Is there a way to convert it to NTSC? Thanks
The Wildcard itself doesn't output PAL but there is no way that thing will work on an American SuperNES if it has a PAL CIC. Either swap out the Wildcard's PAL CIC for a NTSC-U model, or region mod your SNES to handle PAL. Pretty easy for anyone seasonably experienced with a soldering iron. One example: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/downloads/SNES Switch free Region mod.pdf
Hi Beaps Every wildcard sms3201 that I have owned as had either jumpers or wires for PAL and NTSC. You will notice that the cic chip is located at u4 next to it front - back of the pcb is usually 3 jumpers or wires. All you have to do is move the 3 jumpers or wires to the unused opposite points. I know Ikari_01 made a replacement lock out chip for the carts that support both Pal and NTSC ...... not sure if it would work with a wildcard but I suppose it should. You would just have to reset the console for it to auto detect its Pal/NTSC setting. I have wondered if you could use a triple pole double throw switch to these jumper points to select NTSC and Pal of the wildcard then use Ikari_01 cic chip to communicate with the internal lock out chip of the console, without doing the full supercic switchless mod to the console. I am no electronics expert so please do not try it unless you are a electronics guru expert. I have a piccy of the sms3201 which shows the lock out chip and jumper points.if anyone needs it. caketin
