Some might have heard of this HDTV, its an Bravia Television with an Build-In PlayStation 2 Console. Well since Bravia TVs are not cheap (overpriced) and this thing is actually kind of useless plus an probably small production run, i do predict that this thing will have some poor sales. So i was asking myself, how rare could this obscure piece of Hardware be, in let us say in 10 years? Do you guys have any ideas?
I doubt they'll ever be worth much more than what they currently cost at retail. There are comments saying that it's pretty poorly engineered, and that will reduce its value. Added to all that it's born into the age of speculative game collectors so I imagine many of these will sit in boxes for many years to come, waiting for the day when they can be shoved onto ebay as "new old stock" or whatever. It's also not known if throwing a PS2 into TVs is something Sony will do again in the future. It's possible. If so they'd become much less interesting from a collector perspective. I'd buy one if it was as-new and cheap just to take a look at the thing, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a blowout sale maybe a few years down the road.
I think they won't be valuable due to the bulk. If you look at the nes tv it's size and eventual obsolescence make it desirable only to the most extreme of collectors. I would love to get one, but the price is terrible and it's not sold in u.s. If I were in uk I would keep an eye for when they go clearance and then grab one.
Thanks for the comments, seems like it's only worth to get if it would be around 35% cheaper and then it still would use a lot of space in your room/Basement with no use (since it should be in an boxed state). And yeah, pretty much no one knows about this thing, so there are no real collectors interested on this, hmm...
I'm with assembler, I wouldn't buy at retail in hopes of later profit, grab it if the price plummets / clearance sale. I think it woulda helped if the tv didn't have a massive ugly bezel going on
