They haven't even created a Genesis/MD emulator that can run that game at 64mb. And the better music will be on a MD CD. Oh, they also haven't given any indication they would release a ROM anytime soon.

Its a great game, and well worth playing. So much work and time went in to it.
I don't want to see Pier Solar getting dumped and emulated. I waited 3 years to play this game, but someone will find a way to emulate it someday.

you cant buy it atm, sold out. They are going to produce another batch sometime soon.
The ebay price are high right now, but it is very limited edition, only 800 made.

I have a bit of info and photos of my copy on my site:

This question is unrelated to the op, but this seems like a good place to ask since you actually own the game - is the PAL game region free, and fully compatible with an NTSC console? Obviously I'd prefer to play the game in 60Hz, but being from the UK I vastly prefer the UK-style packaging over and MegaDrive branding over Genesis-branding.

    300 bucks
if you 're going to bid on ebay auctions.

Or, your best choice, go for the second bunch, cause seems to be that even with the dump you can't use it on a emulator.

So the only way at the moment is to go real.

The Reprint edition is actually for sale once again. WaterMelon began offering it for sale at the beginning of the week. The price is $45 shipped. If you're interested in a copy, you might want to act now. The last time it was available for sale, it sold out quickly, and if the current cycle is any indication, it probably won't be available for purchase again for at least 1 1/2 months. If you purchase a game, you will have to wait on manufacturing time (about 45 days) and shipping time (which was notoriously slow for the first editions—in fact, there may still be people waiting to receive their copies, which shipped in either December or January).

    Pier Solar site

The original editions of the game are no longer available for purchase, but WaterMelon plans on continuing to sell the Reprint edition. Though they offered three different packaging versions for the preorders (U.S., U.K., and Japan, I believe), the game is region-free and playable on any original system (you might want to check the forums to determine compatibility if you have an uncommon system or a clone).

As for a ROM, the developers have stated on their forums that they have no intention of releasing one. Doesn't mean that no one else will attempt to do so, though I'm disappointed to see people wanting to do this for a game that is currrently available for sale.

its region free, just in a euro style cart and box. It plays in 50/60hz on my moded megadrive, with or without the music cd.

I also think the Euro style looks better over the US Genesis stuff, Sorry, only my opinion.

    Ordered a reprint :(

Really can't justify spending the ebay asking price for this. I heard about the game back in August and didn't follow up on this. What was the original price for the first print?

    The preorders were $35.

I discovered this game about a week after they quit taking preorders. At that time, they would not confirm that they would continue to offer the game for the Genesis/Mega Drive, and many speculated that they would offer it on one of the download services (Xbox Live, PSN, etc.). I'm glad they decided to continue to offer the game in the Reprint edition.

I'm not someone who cares so much about the packaging, as long as I get the same gaming experience (which I hope I can do within the next week or two . . .).

By the way, Tototek is selling copies of Pier Solar as well, though they only had two remaining as of this morning.

Damn, that was a sweet deal for the nice packaging. Too bad I missed it. Seller flipping it at 150-200 on ebay are making a nice profit.

I don't understand why not reprint the original batch. If people are paying that much for it, he could just reprint exact duplicate and make more money out of it.

Though I can't speak for WaterMelon (the company that made Pier Solar), I believe they may be doing a separate reprint version to reward those who preordered the game long before it ever shipped.

I'm not sure exactly when the project began, but I believe that some people preordered the game 2+ years ago. They paid for a product and waited patiently (or not so patiently, in the case of some) during the game's development. I appreciate the fact that those who had faith in the project and awaited it so long are given a limited edition product. I don't appreciate so much those people who are trying to turn a huge profit on the game, but it takes a buyer willing to pay that much for them to do so. I just hope that no one is spending that much thinking that it is the only chance to play the game.

Anyone who orders the current version is still receiving the same game. It doesn't come with the CD, but that can be downloaded and burned from the Pier Solar site.

My pre-order was made in November 2008 and the Posterity Edition was about $55 if I remember right. Its not a surprise that people are selling it so high, that pack is very limited. I'd never sell mine though.

Got to be honest, I checked ebay earlier and I think one had gone for £210... I'm now having a good, hard think about whether this game is worth that much to me (edit: as in, should I sell mine).

That's the thing. I'm sorry I missed out on the first print, but when I think about it, I would be tempted to sell at that price. Very few games are worth that price (excluding proto and such).

They would do well to reprint the CDs by themselves actually. Even if you can download it from the forum, I'm sure most people buying the reprint wouldn't mind paying for a CD.

Sorry for the double post, it has been two days and I've just got something quick to add...

I've just received an email back from the team asking them which style of packaging I would be getting (since there didn't seem to be any way to specify when ordering), their response was...

"the reprint edition has the "black grid design" who fits both UK/europe and USA branding"

So if I'm reading that correctly, us Europeans are going to end up with Genesis-branded copies of the game. Hate to sound like a moaner since a reprint wasn't originally on the cards, and I'm quite pleased to be getting a copy... but I'd really prefer it if it wasn't 'Genesis' branded.

Unless, of course, I'm taking the term 'branding' in a different way to them, and they're actually going to be doing separate versions using the old-style 'black grid' design. We'll see, I guess. I can understand that it would be cheaper to print one version of the game, of course.
