Will Modded XBOX 360 Play Beta Games that work on Debug XBOX 360 Systems?

Anyone have any idea?

 

A regular 'modded' Xbox 360 will only play copies of the same region. You'll need an JTAG modified box to be able to play dev signed games.

 

Ok, so "any" JTAG modded XBOX will do? I just need to make sure. Makes sense why I can't test ANYTHING on a modded system.

 

And where the hell do you get XB360 Betagames from instead of paying a lot of money ?

 

A properly patched JTAG box will play discs from any region, dev or retail.

That said, I wouldn't expect 100% compatibility with dev discs as some of them might be looking for hooks that are only on dev systems, but anything near final status (such as a review beta) would have a good shoot of booting on a XBR/JTAG system.

Just the region free bit is enough to make a JTAG enticing.

This is true and very easy to do, add in the hacked BC and you can play region free originals xbox games as well.

Did them add a region free patch to the JTAG patched kernel ? Last time I messed around with JTAG on XBOX360 there were no way to play mismatched region titles without "dismembering" it and patching the main XEX.

 

Yep there is a region free patch now, nothing extra has to be done, I've played my jap games without doing anything to them installed to HDD and all that stuff.

Install with flash 360, it should be on xbins, and use just the RF patch unless you want to auto boot into something.

So what happens when a dev unit gets a new recovery and a game requires it? Will they no longer work on a JTAG'd unit?

 

I did the region free modification on my JTAG'd XBOX360 but then it does not have any effect on the XBOX360 dash. It sure make things work for XEX/Arcade/Demos and discs but the dashboard seems to have additional checks which are not bypassed yet.

Result is that mismatched region discs won't allow install on the HDD. :banghead:

 

I've installed plenty of other region games to my hdd, some games can't install, but I believe this is block by the game not because of the patch. Because they will not work on even the normal region boxes. But if you can't get it to install rip the game to your hdd and use the iso2god tool, it works for all games.

No, I really mean it... Because the game accepts install if the region matches.

Now think a bit... What is the point of taking an region restricted Japanese game, like for example Otomedius Gorgeous and allow it to install in a US console if the user won't be able to play it anyway ?

So, for the MS programmers using the "Installation of this title is not supported." error message is proper. This needs to be hacked, too.

Edit: I know what I am talking about because I also have an JTAG'd xenon console which I'm able to region change. So I had this tested.

 

Well if your looking to play debug games than use a dev/debug kit.From my experience out of all the debug games I have only one works on my jtag,the others simply don't run.
