I certainly buy used games and lend them out to friends. Isn't this whole forum about the old and obscure? Think about it: I'm sure back in early 1996, Earthbound was worth £5-10, but look at it now. Wouldn't the price be much lower today if there was no way to actually play the game? This is what the games industry should be doing. It's the classic carrot vs stick model. Give people an incentive to buy new instead of punishing them for doing something else. Consumers aren't stupid. We see what's going on. FWIW, If available, I always buy the special edition, even if I don't get much use out of the extras (Catherine comes to mind...).
All I know is that if MS decides to go through with this and is successful then that is the END of gaming as we know it. If we don't take a stand and boycott the fuck out of this system then there won't be another system to run to the generation after.
Remember when gaben showed how much money it was saved on digital compared to old boxed games? and yet we still pay full retail for a download, but is steam a total failure? nope... If the Xbone goes ahead it will set the same precedent: soon people will get used to the idea of having zero control over the games they bought including not being able to sell them So I say buy a PS4, or pirate the shit out of the Xbone in retaliation
Just the button, which doesnt exactly the same thing as the hot corner - so it makes no difference in the slightest. It still loads the metro screen.
