I've sarched around eBay a few times and can't find another copy of my Wind Waker for Game Cube. I did read on Wiki that this is normal for Pal, mine's an NTSC NA Release. What's differnt about it is that it's a double disk case, and the box art is seperated 2/3's the way down with the Oot/MQ art, with a "Includes Two-Game Bonus Disc!" seperating the two. It came with both manuals in it from a video game resaler shop, from right around the games release, maybe a week or two later. It also has a NOT FOR RESALE on it's back by the UPC. I don't have a camera on hand to snap a picture, but i was wondering if it's.. well, rare-er or unique or, anything really.
According to Wikipedia, it was the version given away with machines bundled with WW from Wal-Mart: "Wal-Mart customers could buy a special Nintendo GameCube bundle, including The Wind Waker, the Ocarina of Time bonus disc (each in the same case), and a Nintendo GameCube-Game Boy Advance cable for a limited time." I would say it was rarer than the separate disc version, but not insanely rare due to the number of machines Wal-Mart probably sold over the period.
I remember buying it off ebay a little while ago, although it was stolen in a robbery. Its not too rare, but it does go for quite a bit (About $60 or so). I'd hold on to it, since it is a fairly interesting Zelda piece. EDIT: For anyone curious: http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Legend-of-Z...ryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yeah, i cought that bit of wiki information, but was still wondering about it. Though the game reseller i got it from dose resale games, it also sells new stuff, it never re-shrink wraps them, and mine was srink wraped. Which lead me to think it might not have been a Wal-Mart exclusive, or there might be variants that were produced for late reservations. etc.
CaptainR: Did the copy you have have the Nintendo plastic pull strip around it (it says Nintendo in red all the way along it)? This would be an indicator to judge whether it was a re-wrap or not. Plus, it's likely that it was initially shrink-wrapped in the bundle pack anyway, and extra stocks could have been sold on to independents (or chucked in the bargain bin). So, assume your assumptions are correct.
mooseblaster: Indeed it did, that's what i was getting at but didn't word it right. And it would make sense that left overs were spread around. Thanks for the information everyone.
I got one at Best Buy with a Black Game Cube. Pretty good deal in my opinion, like 4 Zelda games in one.
