I have a HP Pavilion Dv5046ea laptop. Up until a few days ago i was running Ubuntu as my primary OS and had Windows Vista on the side to use to connect my Xbox to the PC to transfer files. A few days ago Vista crapped out on me and now im unable to reinstall Vista or XP. My laptops battery has died so it has to be plugged into the mains at all times for it to run/turn on so when i try to install XP the laptop turns off after about 5 minutes. When i run the Vista installation it says that it cannot find a suitable partition to install on even though i have an empty 35gb NTFS partition on the drive. So is there any alternate ways to install XP or can anyone answer my problem about the Vista installation problem?

    Thanks, Will
