Hi, when I am updating from Windows Home Edition to Pro Edition, I keep receiving a blue screen saying I have an error, and Windows will restart. It then prompts me to scan for viruses, but I have already and none have come up. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

    w0rd!

Rowny's right, we need to know the error code before we can help, there's a VERY wide variety of reasons this can be happening, likely there'll be a 0x########## error code or an all cap error like PAGED_DATA_IN_NONPAGING_AREA in the top left corner that will illuminate the matter.

you can not update home to pro easily.. you need to back everything up and do a fresh install.. if you don't do this you will always have problems..

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. I couldn't connect until I got it fixed. It magically worked when I restarted the fourth time, but I cannot remember the error code off the top of my head. But, updating was actually quite easy. The only thing I had to reinstall were my ethernet drives.

I just had a Windows XP disc I got at school, which enabled me to choose between home and professional. Since I had home, I thought I would go with professional, since it's a bit faster.

I've heard annoying things about XP home in general when it comes to connecting to networks. I'm still in 2k land, so no probs for me!
