    Hello guys

after like 5 months of not using my official N64 controller pak ,i pt it into my controller with DKR, to find that EVERYTHING has been wiped

i know the controller paks are battery backed, but i think that its highly unlikely that the battery died

i just saved some data on it and ill see tomorrow if its still there

anyone has any idea how this is possible?

I always assumed the controller paks were some sort of flash memory. How interesting.

If it is an offical one it is a common problem with the way the design is that the memory card over time can corrupt over swapping it in and out. My advice would be to get a 3rd party one that has a selector like I did, stable and has never failed me.

The first party has issues with voltage drops /plugging and unplugging.

I never swap it out with the system on.

One of mine did that years ago. It was not the battery since it's working now.
I think it's some type of corruption. It promped data corruption in Nightmare Creatures some days or weeks before. The game fixed it, as far as I remember, but everything simple vanished some time after.

I had a similar problem with Turok 2: The game told me that my Controller Pak is corrupt and asked me to repair it. I selected the repair option and my Controller Pak was completely formatted.

If you get such a message, don't select the repair option. Just switch your N64 off and on again and it will work.

Also try removing/reinserting the pak into the controller and trying again. Dirty contacts can cause the error.
