Now this isn't the first time this sort of thing has been done, but this project is pretty cool. You're using an old sit-down arcade driving cab to control an R/C Car around a WipEout inspired circuit. Yeah, they're not hover cars, but it still goes at quite a pace. I can't wait to see this when they've added more than one player and power-ups. The track is quite an impressive construction in itself. More info and a video over on Engadget.
Very cool! Reminds me of the unique Sega Super Circuit attraction I've seen on system16: The RC-cars are controlled in customized OutRun cabinets. This looks like some sort of Vegas attraction, I bet there was only one setup ever made for public use ;_;
Yeah, that one immediately sprang to my mind as well. http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=845&page=1#2862 I'm at a loss why he didn't more with the course. He should've added lights, more road marks and lap registration hardware.
Does anyone have any idea what "Murder Lodge" is? I don't want to go completely off topic, but it appears on that system16 page. It's just a log cabin with 4 pairs of headphones and a table in it..
I wondered about that too. It must be some kind of horror adventure based on scary sounds, maybe through 5.1 headphones? Maybe there's a screen behind the window that displays scary scenes "outside" the cabin? I could imagine that it isn't all that bad, I'd certainly try it for 300 yen. ^_^
I don't think I could walk past something like that without giving it a try. There is almost zero info about it though.
Why can't I find ANY footage of Sega Super Circuit? Anyone know of a clip of it maybe within a longer series?
Except for the half-tube racetrack this has nothing to do with wipeout. In fact if they just drawn the racetrack the car wouldn't flip-over all the time.
