Hi, i think such a great game is worth an thread. I really like RPGs and witcher3 is my absolute fav game in the last years. Before witcher 3 comes out i played witcher2 and the first part (PC). Was also very good games. I think the best choice is the PC version. Never played it on console, but both systems have problems at all. I play it with a 295x2 (crossfire now work with the amd 15.5 beta driver) and DS4 controller on PC @4k resolution. On wich system do you play witcher3 and how do you like it?
I think of getting The Witcher 3, but I have never played any earlier Witcher games. Are they very crucial to the story or can I just skip them ? How do you compare the feel of combat to other games ? Is it more like Dragon Age or is it more like Dark Souls or Skyrim or any other game ?
I bought The Witcher 3 yesterday and played it for 30 minutes. I usually don't like WRPG but I liked what I have played so far. The combat seems to be fun which is really important in WRPGs. During the weekend I want to play it more, I hope to enjoy it.
I have it on PS4, my pc needed a gpu upgrade to play it better (660ti atm) It's really a really good game, you can easily sink hours into it. I also have the previous 2 games, they are also amazing, really enjoyed them.
Play on the Xbox One Japanese version which seems to be a different build from the western release. All of the bugs and errors that people complain about don't seem to be present. Also, I hear PS4 owners have had to have 3 updates so far. Mine is still version 1.01 The Japanese release actually has full Japanese or English voices and text. I was so surprised that they bothered to record the voices in to Japanese. It also has a Spike Chunsoft opening video.
Playing it on my PC currently, on ultra settings with my 970 gtx/i7 4790k. Runs pretty smoothly most of the time, about 40-50 fps avg., and I'm enjoying it immensely. More so than I ever did Skyrim or GTAV. Except for the bugs. Oh so many bugs!. One that randomly crashes the game during cutscenes. Keys not appearing on bandit leaders to release prisoners from cages. Another in the swamp area stuck my character in waist-high water permanently (had to reload). And of course the latest one that keeps you from gaining xp from missions if you are six levels above the recommended level for it. All in all I'm still hanging in there at glorious 50+ hours played, but definitely not without it's hurdles!
I spent the morning playing it today. I'm really enjoying it but I would like to know where I can check to see how many hours I have already put into it (I'm playing on the PS4).
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-witcher-3-wild-hunt-performance-analysis This will give you an idea of how each version stacks up against the other ones.
Ah, digital Foundry. Nice link. By the way, mine was updated to 1.03 sometime yesterday as the Xbox One is on quick start up mode. Great for updates as the happen automatically. Gladius, check out your game saves. I think it tells you the hours there.
Never played any of the previous games or read the books but my GF bought me a PS4 last week and this was bundled in. Very impressive game but I haven't got a damn clue what's going on. I'm up the point where I've just finished talking to Yen and I've been sent to some new town on the quest for Ciri and it's starting to come together but jesus the lore is deep. BTW I'm not having any issues at all with bugs or framerate after installing the update. Smooth as silk.
It's a fantastic world and game. There are many characters from the 2nd game in this one so you will be missing out on some background story but it shouldn't effect the game too much. I've been playing 2 hours every weekday night and about 6 hours on Sunday. Love the game.
From what I'm hearing, reading a synopsis of the first 2 will greatly help you. A friend told me to read a synopsis of the first one, play the second one then wait until the third goes on sale. I'm in the same boat: I haven't played any of them. Given the absolutely amazing reception W3 is getting, I'm tempted just to dive right in.
I've played this for a few hours, but that's just scratching the surface in this game. Never played the first two, but it doesn't seem to matter that much.
Really? This is good news. I might have to jump on the PS4 version then. I can read the two synopsizes just to make sure.
It will do after you've been playing about 10 hours. You'll start go meet characters from the other games. While it's not necessarily needed to know who they are, it will make the game a little more enjoyable.
