Backstory copied from my incredibly longshot WTB post: So I DO plan to do some removable, but extensive, modifications - RGB, component, auto-region detection for carts, possibly bios mod (I want to test this for certain with an everdrive before bypassing the rom) etc. but given the condition of the unit- what would you all do? http://www.flickr.com/photos/defor/s...th/8384204177/ The system works perfectly, but as far as being worthy of collection value, It's never going to happen- especially with the crap done to the box. I've made back almost all the original investment in the system with the sales of my Victor CIB wondermega, so I'm not worried here, but I've been considering doing *BLASPHEMY* to the system by getting the top resurfaced and detailed. I feel that any attempt to match the paint and fill the knife marks on the surface would come out poorly. Anyone have thoughts? Thoughts?
Yikes! I'd mod the hell out of it if it were mine, get some decals and plonk them down on top of the damaged parts. Also I'd only use it in a very dimly lit room! :friendly_wink: Orrr just keep it as a backup system, the consoles went in two by two hurrah!
heh- I was somewhat thinking to get a professionally (by someone who does good console mods) done white gloss paintjob on all the grey surfaces, then add back on the wondermega and sega logos via vinyl decals.
That sounds even better than just sticking decals all over it! :congratulatory: 50x better! I should really try painting an old Mega Drive 2 case and see what results I can get. Wouldn't mind a red racing one with racing stripes all over it. :smile-new:
hah- might as well- md2's seem to be super common- odd as I never had one until about a year ago even though I've got a box full of md1/gen
Don't remind me... I've got the same issue. Mega Drives everywhere! At least I offloaded a bunch of Saturns back into the wild. So. Many. Mega. DRIIIIIIIVEEEEEEES! :dejection: Let us know how you go, since you'll probably get around to fixing your WonderMega up before I even think about which MD2 to do! :biggrin-new:
I have 30+ PlayStation 2 consoles ... -_-; And each one is different from the others (different region or board revision ... lol what a collection)
Technical reasons, yes. I would keep boxes, manuals, cables and controllers if it was "just a collection". lol
You have no idea. It's FAR WORSE than SEGA stuff revision wise. A lot of details and information to document. Even slight differences are significant (chipset versions) across the same revision.
Glad I am not going to ever be a part of working that out! :victorious: Oh that's right the PS2 is more a computer than a dedicated gaming console :wink-new: </un-hijack> Sorry about that! But do let us know how you go with the paint job! :encouragement:
Ok, so anyone have any tips for removing the CD side of the assembly from the case? I feel like something's stuck, even though all the screws are out... The MD side was simple.
