Hello Everybody, Banjo here and I am new to the forums so I want to say hello. Now that I have that out of the way I recently picked up a SwanCrystal and 7 WonderSwan Games (Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Arc the Lad, Rockman EXE WS, Rhyme Rider, Rockman and Forte, and Makaimura otherwise known as Ghosts and Goblins) now I wanted to know if someone wanted to team up with me and help me translate some of these games and perhaps more games when I get some more. Now I know that doing the Final Fantasy games is pointless so I was thinking of doing the other games but it is only an idea so if anybody wants to do this just say so and with that I am done Cheers!, Banjo
Did you know there's Front Mission (based on the Super Famicom version) & two Inuyasha games? If your a fan of the show or not that is. but other than, what game are you trying to translate you have in mind atm?
I was thinking about doing Rockman EXE WS because as far as I know it was never ported to any other system and it is extremely text heavy for a Mega Man game. For Front Mission and Inuyasha I am always looking for some new games so I will keep my eye out for those and see what I think
oh okay, if you have a script dump of the game you don't mind if i may take a look at it? and about the two they both look like really good games imo!
I did some digging and Rockman EXE is translated so I am working on all the script from Rhyme Rider Kerorican as their is very little text in game (its a Rhythm game) but I figured its a good enough game it might be cool to some people and if you don't mind we could also do the translation of the box
Turns out their is already a translation of Rockman EXE WS so I am working on all the script form Rhyme Rider Kerorican because its one of the better games I have seen for the WonderSwan
EXE WS actually has been translated a while ago, but it is one of very few games that's even been tried, and of those only EXE WS, Makai Toushi SaGa, Final Fantasy 2 (RPGONE's) and Dicing Knight's translations can be called good, I'd reckon. Others are either incomplete and/or heavily abbreviated and/or more "guesslations" than anything else (like one of my own *cough*).
xdaniel That's pretty sweet that you did your own translation and I was looking into some of the Digimon games and this one looks pretty cool because I like RPG's so I will be sure to look into it. And I agree with you on some of the guesslations which is why I think a good starter would be something like Rhyme Rider Keriocan because it has very little text but I would really like to know what they are saying
Wonderswan deserves better recognition, it was quite successful in Japan and got a library of more than 200 games. One Piece Swan Colloseum is by far my favorite game on the system If you are interested in puzzle games , aside from the obvious Gunpey (Ex), there are Mr Driller (good port), Tane Wo Maki Tore and Engacho! I especially like the latter. As far as sidescrolling action games Klonoa is good (better than Megaman action games on WS IMO). Also if you don't expect much Buffers Evolution could be a nice surprise. Now about the subject at hand (interesting translation project for WS), my main suggestion would be Wild Card: exclusive card RPG by Squaresoft. Another Squaresoft exclusive is Blue Wing Blitz but it is less interesting IMO. Also a potential interesting project would be the translation of Namco Super Wars, startegy game exclusive to the platform that feature Namco characters. Last but not least I think a translation of One Piece rogue-like game One Piece: Chopper no Daibouken could have potential.
is there a publicly available flashcart that allows ROMs on the original hardware? I have a few JP Wonderswan games I'd love to play in english, and would even get myself a SwanCrystal if I could.
There is a Flashcart available on the Wonderswan and for the games their is a lot of cool stuff that is definitely worth playing so I would definitely look into getting one
Do you know the name of the flashcart? The only one I know of is the official one that only plays homebrew and not roms.
