Yeah, man. Trees are like so 5 minutes ago.

Wow. That's awesome. When are other companies going to realize that wood = class?

Obsolete for electronics wise ass. IE: Look at the original Apple, vs the new one. Only one has wood. If you need a clue as to which one, I'll let you know.

Clearly you aren't very well acquainted with the audiophile scene.

Wood went out in the 80's, now it's all about sleek plastics and the "clean" look.

I think the Yen to Dollar conversion was more in the favor of the dollar back then. Not sure exactly what the conversion rates were, but the yen was a bit weaker than today if I remember correctly. At least that would have eased the pain even if only by a small margin.

Well, it sounds like neither of you are well versed in A/V history. Pioneer continued using wood on some of their high end A/V components (CLD-99 is one example) well into the 90's. Wood is still widely used by high end standing speaker manufacturers such as Klipsch, Infinity, Martin Logan, and many others.

I know it's the internet and all, but let's not think we have a grasp on the electronics industry based on our knowledge of what is carried at our local Best Buy.
