:smt082 :smt082 Got confirmation today that I've been accepted into the Academy of Interactive Entertainment(The AIE). It's pretty much the bestest "games school" in Australia. Starting next tuesday I begin Certificate IV in IT(games programming). It's probably basic stuff for some of you but I gots to start somewhere. The course times are sweet as well(5.30-10.30pm) so I can keep my bad sleeping habits :smt082 This is the course I'm doing, http://www.aie.act.edu.au/courses/course_programming.php
Cool! I want to go to Australia now... What's a Cert. IV by the way? Is it some form of post-grad course or something?
Not entirely sure. I'm know it's one below a Diploma(cert 2, cert 3, cert 4, diploma etc). If I go well this year I'll go onto the Diploma of games dev next year. The good thing about the AIE is it has good connections with the Australian companys. Like MicroForte(Fallout Tactics, BigWprld tech - They actually started the AIE), Irrational(System Shock 2, Freedom Force, Tribes 3) and Melbourne House(Transformers, LeMans DC). It's mainly PC programming but hopefully they at least have a PS2 linux kit for us to muck around with.
Congratulations and good luck! We expect you to be showing developers how it's done when you get out in four years or so. :smt023
Yo congratulations :drinkers: I hope everything works out well for you, and remeber to have fun :smt023
man, thats cool... hope you do well in that.... whatever you do, dont go to work for EA though,.... you'll become a slave..
Congratulation . I was looking for something similar, but all of the "game" colleges in America seem to require an enormous loan to get into.
