I work at a PC systems builder/reseller as a technician prepping the systems, etc. It involves opening up the PC case boxes and the cases we use are both high quality kind and low quality. I usually get some knicks from the cheap cases' sharp edges. However, today I was working on an ANTEC case (high quality case with hardly any sharp edges) and as I was popping out the drive bay cover to put in the CDROM drive, I put too much force to pop it out and it popped out but my left index finger was what stopped the momentum and as a result I got nice big and deep cut. Here is a picture of the injury (just the bandage, not the bloody wound). It was too wide to get stitches so I'm due for a long and painful recovery. Workers Comp is paying for all of this. http://img235.echo.cx/img235/1204/fingerlaceration0028cf.jpg I lost a good amount of blood, gonna lie down now. Pic should work now. __________________
That's gotta suck since you use your hands to do the job. It'll be one of those things where you wack it several times a day.
He he, the Shocker. That brings back memories/a smile/a smirk to my face. But about the injury, I remember at least two of these, Madhatter. When I used to work at the school's informatics department, I was in charge of toners for a couple of weeks. The bags are insanely thick, so we used lines of staples to open them. Those things are SHARP. I sliced my hand, and the road from the comp. lab to the bathroom was a trail of blood. The lavatories looked like taken out of a gore film. and 2), when I was starting to build little models in Architecture back in 99, the cardboard I was using in this assignment was somewhat hard, and difficult to cut even with the blade I had. Which had no problem going through my left hand, though. I was so stressed and it was so late/early, I was pretty much worried about not getting the model dirty, so I worked with my hand away from it until I had the time to wash it. Anyway, my point is probably.... get well soon, and take care, dude.
hehe thats quite the realistic image there, I had some dumb-ass tip a 400 lbs pallet of steel garden vine things on me last week. New guys ..sheesh, didnt tink much of it at the time till I saw my leg at home, ouch what a bruse I got.
heh, cry now: Heres an update... My camera sux at close range. Basically its starting to form a new skin where there wasn't any before. I have to put this antibacterial cream on it twice a day, so basically change out the bandaid i have to apply twice. Its pale and feels a bit numb, the finger.
That`s a bit better Some real gore I did something similar a few years ago and my mother had some of this plastic skin stuff to cover it over..... FUCK ME...did it sting like hell......should have just left it to rot
