If it's a 150 sectors offset it could be a logical/physical block address issue.
I'm saying it just in case as I'm pretty you're aware of this.

Also, the session gap could be skipped, IIRC it's 11400 or 11700 sectors, that'd be blank anyways.

What is the difference between this and the official version?
I made a CDI test and found no difference between the official version

cause was not that obvious :)
it appeared CIM have audio-type sectors not 2352 but 2450 (I guess with all subcodes)

LOL, given that both me and FamilyGuy have liked your post - there's not any HKT-0120 hard drive dumps I'm aware of - it's a first? Anyone else got any ideas if this has been done before and is freely available *somewhere*?

If anyone has more Katana dev box units... I'd be happy to take them off your hands to do the dumping! :)

So nothing this complete? These files are straight from the developer right? There wouldn't be any way to fudge this would there?

Honestly I don't know for sure, I remember toying with files from a Katana HDD, but I don't remember if it was public or if it was a complete image or simply an archive with the recovered files in it.

If you did a dump with dd (or equivalent), then there no real way to do it improperly. There could be errors on the disk though but that'd not be your fault. The HDD in a Katana is normally a single 4GB partition or two 2GB ones; make sure you got everything!

Oh yes! The errors on the disk, they were VERY small compared to the size of the disk. I did record some video and got most of the process down, it was a VERY small number, that said I do have a SCSI based SD card solution on the way from the states - ironically designed in Australia...

Edit: I still haven't ran this image through a good deleted files scanner. Any recommendations?

    ok, I see.
so there no any public available data from Katana's (either complete HDD dd dumps or extracted files) ?
if so I'd say it looks weird, have no idea why people hoard this old crap.

What did you just say @MetalliC? You calling this old crap? It's a piece of history! A fun piece of history! :D
It's alright guys, *when* I get my next HKT-0120 (oh I'd take a Set4 or even 2.1 if anyone is selling lol) I'll let you know ;)
You guys are the wizards, thanks very much for your help @MetalliC and @-=FamilyGuy=- ! You guys are great! <3

(Why are we missing a heart emoticon?)

indeed it's a piece of history, but I can't see how this data can be $$ valuable => no reason to hoard it, and that's why I'm wondering you are the first(?) person who dumped and shared HKT-120 HDD.

    What about TJ&E 3? Wasn't that on a hard drive, not on a GD-R?

I would have dumped my HDD but there wasn't anything interesting on it, unfortunately.

So was hellgate and some others. People normally don't share raw dumps of hard drives, but they do often share what they find on them. Also some people might be uncomfortable or scared of the grey zone of sharing such data.

Hahaha, oh I get what you mean, sorry I completely misread that! What I'd be interested to see is if there is any deleted data that can be recovered, I did try to give r-studio a go but... well it didn't work yet! :)

Did you fire up the data recovery? Who knows what treasures could lie in apparent blank space... :)

I laugh in the face of uncomfortability and scaredness and even grey zones! Muhahahahaha!

Thanks @wombat - We need more and more and more :)
Side note: Do you still have any of those blank GD-Rs floating about? I'd love to give my GD-Writer a spin on YouTube!

I'm always happy to dump things or rip things, it's my way of giving back - even if it's just a baseball game in this case :p

When I've got my little SD card SCSI adapter oh and the plastic rails for it to sit on (Hooray for 3d printing!) I'll get a dev system setup of some kind, i'll image this back across and make a nicely labelled REPRO so it doesn't get sold as a beta... those people make me sad :(
