And... That thing would be good practice target for pilots. Huge and slow. No need for missiles etc. Just drop the bomb. Artillery would rip this thing apart too.
Lol, yeah, I was thinking the same thing... but still, shows why the days of gigantic war machinery are definitely over.
Anyone who's interested in the crazier WWII stuff and never played Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe missed out.
Well this is actually from WWI, but I found it really interesting! Photos from an early stereoscopic camera: http://io9.com/rare-3d-camera-found-containing-photos-from-wwi-669397198
Do you know about a picture of Hitler and Staline shaking hands, supposedly took by Richard Eisenstadt?
Wow, I have never heard this voice before. For everyone who can't understand: This is a secret recording of Hitler's real voice, not the obnoxious yelling we are used to. He is talking calmly about the shortcomings of German war machinery. I found this material very shocking and surprising. Surprisingly, Hitler actually has a very good voice in my opinion. If I didn't know better I'd think this is a reasonable and sympathetic man talking there. Thanks for posting!
Im amazed at how and who they consider a war "criminal" and then let others off scott free and even moved them to my country ( America) and give them immunity and jobs.
This comic shows in a nutshell why the nazis kept throwing money at stupid shit that didn't work, like V2 bombs instead of more bombers
I am amazed at how the catholic church and vatican in particular are not being criticised in this context. They helped dozens of Tier 1 war criminals including Erich Priebke to live a safe life in South America just for their own egoistic interests. Just one more reason to dislike the vatican and the catholic church as an institution.
As part of my history class research, I came across this particular book: "The Message of God", a book published in 1940 by Institute for the Study and Eradication of Jewish Influence on German Church Life. In short: German had always been a Christian country and even though the Nazis wanted to diminish the influence of religion in society, they could not simply outlaw it as it was part of German culture. Big problem: Jesus was a Jew. So what do they do? Right, publish their own version of the new testament that lacks all references to Jewish locations, names and of course to Jesus being a Jew. "Die Botschaft Gottes" was only 300 pages (around 60% less than the original) and apparently around 200,000 copies sold - an impressive number considering this was only produced and sold to soldiers and pastors during the years when the war turned worse and worse for Germany (1941-1945). Other than straightout changing names to remove Jewish/Hebrew influence (e.g. "Jerusalem" becomes "God's city"), they also changed the 10 commandments - imagine that: They are now 12 commandments! Most of the original 10 were adjusted to Nazi ideology and changed, but some were completely new - and ridiculous, e.g.: 11. Honor your Führer and master Nowadays, this book is a lesser known historic artifact and interesting collectible that some people refer to as the 'Nazi bible'.
