No it's assuming that you realize that most of Nintendo's roster of major characters wear gloves.. First thing I think of is Mario really. This is one ridiculous item though. I mean I want to see some douche actually wearing them.
I noticed these this morning and had a little chuckle. Not sure whether I was laughing at the product or the price though. They look like something that came with a magazine or some crap.
This is what I'd call a successful promo: if you look really closely at the tiny text on some guy's gloves, you'll see something that says "Nintendo 64"!
Rofl! I know I do! Now that I remember...in preschool, we had a pair of green wierd glove things in the toys and I'd put them on and call them kermit the frog gloves because they were green and had these vein things in them. Hence they were for kermit the frog.
So dope. I'd keep them on forever so I could just play my SNES as opposed to that Horrid system.... (don't shoot me) :110: Only joking.
Haha! I'd buy them for the comedy value. If they were like $5. $10 at a push. Don't forget that promo items in other industries often weren't designed to be seen by the public. And in the video games industry sometimes, for that matter. In the music industry, promo items often didn't make sense... and certainly didn't have to be practical. Radiohead gave a promo of OK Computer away on cassette in a walkman that didn't have a rewind button... and the cassette was glued in! Sure, there were obvious promotional items - Ben Folds Five sent out a foam brick to promote the release of Brick, but the whole idea is to get people to think about and remember a forthcoming release. It looks like the gloves sparked an effect, which was their purpose! Oh, there were also items tied to a launch party. EMI gave out 200 copies of Bohemian Rhapsody on blue vinyl with an invite to a luncheon. For those who attended, they got given freebies including wine glasses, pens and scarves. This is the most desirable Queen item, and one of the highest valued promo items in the music industry. This glove is exactly that - it either came with the invite or was given out at the event. Sure, it was just a gimmick, but so what? It served its purpose.
I'd get a pair unless the price is something ridiculous Would be a good way to show off your nerdiness around wearing nintendo gloves.
Nope! I have a collection from their offices, some were quite nice! I have a red star army helmet, and t-shirts, etc.
Acclaim had that epic lizard guy on their intros (Turok, etc) as well. I loved that company. Now, if you wouldn't feel bad modding the gloves by cutting the fingertips off and adding some grippiness to them... Then you could have the best of both worlds!
