L4D2, carnival end stage. Running to the chopper and someone decided it was the perfect moment for a serious talk... I didn't make the chopper....
What kind of serious talk? Like, personal/sentimental or "THIS IS AN OUTRAGE"? ... or are you subtly referring to an enemy?
You never make it to the chopper. Only the guy that says, "GET TO ZE CHOPPAH" will ever make it to the chopper. Well, how long had you been playing L4D2, in consecutive hours? Maybe you deserved a serious talk. :110: Back when I played DDR (shut up!) I always broke epic combos when people walked into the room. But the worst was when I was a lot younger. My brother and I rented RE2 (N64, as we had no PS1). My father happened to walk by right at the beginning of the game (perhaps the opening cut scene? I can't remember) and saw some zombies having a meal on some dude. And he made us take it back because it had 'cannibalism' in it. So, my first RE experience was very short lived, and I subsequently never got hooked.
My longest DDR run, which had been going for about 3 1/2 hours (no break stages, endless mode in DDR4) was interrupted by the phone call that turned into a 'serious talk'. edit: was so proud I hooked my PS up to my AIW card and did a screengrab. It was an old card, and this was in '02 so I'm surprised I even found this... but so proud!
I just had one a couple hours ago. I was playing Geometry Wars: Galaxies on Wii, and was about 200k away from finally getting a gold medal on the last level i needed to get get gold on every level. I was on my last guy, but my multiplier was maxed and and i had 3 bombs so i should have been fine. And then the phone rings, completely making me break my concentration and i end up dying. An hour later of trying some more and i gave up. Maybe another day lol.
You got endurance, man h: My worst interruption moments were probably all during 2D-shooter runs. Whenever I'm in stages 4 or 5 of a really tough danmaku shmup playing for score, someone will come in, call for me, call the phone, whatever. I once reached stage 5 in DDP Daioujou with no death and approx. 155 million. Then the phone rang... I think my final score was something about 160, no combos possible anymore, lol. LOL. -_-
Many moon's ago playing sonic 2 I was fightin dr r in the airship level when the power cut out...people hear'd my Noooooooooooo for miles I swear rofl
in 2 player cooperative with my brother in FFT on psp while playing the 3-4 hours consecutive battles the wi-fi failed for no reason. It never happened again so i wonder what the hell happened...
Abe's Oddysee on the PS1, played on it for most of the day just quicksaving all the way through, then as the night drawed near - BAM! Power goes out...
Besides a blackout now and then that ruined a combo or a game I was about to end (specially ball-busting when there wasnt memory cards) I get interrupted all the time, specially when I'm playing a RTS. Is part of being a gamer: having stupid people break your concentration
When I was wee, my parents were going to my Grans as I got to the 'quiz' boss in Banjo Kazooie. Them pestering me to go, me getting upset as I wanna see the long cutscene/ make sure it saved!
Playing Doom 3 on the 360 in the dark. Now it was really hot that summer all I was wearing was a pair of shorts. I see something in the game run up the wall and exit to my left. At this point my cat enters from my left and rubs himself across my back as he walks by. I screamed so loud my neighbors were banging on my door thinking I was getting attacked  Don't think I ever went back to that game
Last week while playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2, I orderd a Pizza Online. Sometimes they call you to verify the online order. As I'm playing my phone rings and it's a job I applied to saying they liked my resume and would like me to come in for an interview, as she finished introducing herself my door bell rang and IT WAS MY PIZZA MAN. So as I'm there trying to play a game online with the teams tied up and only a minute to go in game, I get a phone call about a job (and I'm unemployed since Janurary so I NEEDED to take it) my pizza was there ALL at the same time. that was pretty bad.
Final level in Shiobi III on sega megadrive 2/genesis.. someone decides to try and step over the Megadrive 2 which had a sensitive power cord.. bam, level 1 again (I quit playing out of utter frustration).
Was kicking ass in Counter Strike Source and drinking beer, when all of a sudden I had to use the bathroom.... my KDR started to drop after that.....
I've been playing games for so long that when someone needs to walk in front of the tv and they're like, "Pause the game so I can pass." I just say, "Just go, you're distracting me more by standing there and telling me what to do." I'm pretty sure I can recover from whatever happens in the split second it takes for them to pass.
When Phantasy Star Online was new, I actually took four days off of work to just sit and play it. It's the only game that I missed meals and lost sleep for. However, at about hour 16 the phone rang, and I knew it was a somewhat important call. On my way out of the room to get the phone, one of my belt loops on my jeans snagged on the old-world handle styled doorknob, and I lost my footing. For a few seconds I was dangling there by my waist, feet off the ground and arms waving uselessly, until the loop broke and I fell to the floor. Hurt for a whole day afterward.
I did this for the GC! I can name a shit ton of interruptions over the years made by the ball & chain, usually when I'm playing a really hard shooter.
