When in America, I needed a Tony Hawks shred board (it was for work, not me....) and noticed that a local gamestop had one for $25 new, so I went down to the local shop and tried to buy it. I got there and the shop assistant was there talking to what seemed two of his mates. So I went up to him and asked for said product on Xbox 360, he noticed I had an English accent and asked me if I would be using it on a US Xbox 360, I said no, but I only wanted the board and not the game anyway, so he said "But it won't work on a brit 360", i said that I only want the board, so it doesn't matter, "But the board won't work", I asked why not? and he said "It is made for a American 360", I said it would be fine and work normally, he then said in a loud and stern voice "No it won't" at this point the manager comes out of the back room and asks me if I am okay. The guy tries to explain what I wanted and wanted to save me bringing it back, ironically the idiot manager agreed with him. I then explained that I have gone through about 4 of these boards and the boards are not region locked and there is a good chance the game is not locked either. He then said the immortal line "But I work in the industry so I know I am right", I asked for their names, told them they were idiots and were wasting my time and then walked out. Went to another gamestop down the road (although 2 miles down the road) and the bright bubbly female shop assistant sold it to me with no fuss. I did write to gamestop who did apologise to me and offered me a $10 gift voucher but I declined as I was no longer in the US...
I laughed pretty hard when you had to tell him that the board was not region locked. Good story. Thanks for sharing
I've had similar people serve me at stores. They think customers know nothing just cause they have a name tag with the word GAMESTOP on it. Anyway, good thing you left I wouldn't of given them the sale even if it was at a good price. Region locked accessories for 360, what retards... We have smart asses at EB which is Gamestop anyway, and sometimes they don't even know what they sell. I find GAME are worse though, many females that work at EB are actually quite friendly I find.
You should have answered, "No, but my 7-foot boyfriend in the car will be. Do you want to take it up with him?" While I see that he is trying to save himself a hassle (in his eyes) it's like getting asked about it here just b/c you're white. Annoying, to be honest.
