They go for almost 200 bucks on eBay - are there any practical uses for the Broadband adapter thesedays? (Games that can still make use of it, web browsing).

I know it can be used for quake 3 and apparently some people still play it online from what I've heard

I'm pretty sure there are private PSO servers. Possibly Quake as well, but don't quote me on that.

EDIT: Sorry, guess I should clarify what I mean by private, not like...restricted access or hidden, but something run by fans, not Sega official servers.

If you want to play Quake III and/or PSO online the easy way, then it's definitely worth getting one. Besides online play it's also a very useful tool to dump your own GD-R's (although now a days thats also possible with a DC SD adapter). So it's up to you for deciding if it's worth buying :)

There aren't many DC players anymore on schthack these days. Sylverant.net offers better support.

I'm confuse here, I thought Dreamcast broadband adapter already came with it? Did you lose Adapter in the first place?

Nope, only the Japanese R7 came bundled with an BBA. Besides an early batch of Asian Dreamcast's, pretty much every model came bundled with a dial-up modem.

I think every american Dreamcast had a dial-up modem. In China some had a dummy modem, I'm sure about Hong Kong at least.

I can't help but think the highest bidder on that was probably a proxy bidder thinking they'd got a bargain BBA, only to find a regular modem in the box. Mind you, I was sold one like that in a retro store in Osaka, which was a bit tricky to explain when I returned it...
