Would anyone that can translate Japanese like to translate a Doujin?

A somewhat rare hentai doujin, that is. I'm currently bidding on it on ebay, and I am pretty confident I will win (Unless someone bids a crazier amount then I already did, which I would be shocked to see). It has about 4 days left, so I wanted to start this topic early to see if anyone may be interested (Its either that or asking Doujin World to translate it).

Do those guys charge to translate?

 

Its called Double Princess and revolves around Peach and Sheik.

$1.50 per page for a quick private commission, and DP has about 38 pages (Guessing that about 3-5 of those pages are just the covers, credits, and other random stuff). If I do get it, I sort of wanted to have it translated before I release it and their normal free commission process takes about 4-6 months while the private commission takes 3 days.

Damn... does that count for even really hard stuff to translate? Maybe I'm in the wrong business. Although I guess unless it could be done start to finish in 2 hours, it's not exactly a cash cow.

 

From what I understand, harder stuff with more text is more expensive. Although i'm not sure how long the actual translation takes, it does include editing the raw files so you don't have to do it yourself and rewriting it so english speakers can understand it.

Anywho, if anyone is interested to do it, I am willing to pay a little to get it translated. It won't be much, but it will be something ($20 or $30). All that is needed is the translation itself, I can do the editing and rewriting if needed.

 

Once you get the hang of editing manga, it's a breeze. So DW is making quite a buck on those prices.

Plus, who wouldn't want to get paid for working with porn!

 

$250 for a single 38 page doujin? Are you mad? It sounds like you are planning to scan it and use an English translation to create something that people can download. Glad I am visiting Comiket this year so I can give money to some of the creators I like directly.

Just as mad as some people that will pay $500 for a prototype of Bobby's XTRRREEEMMMEE shuffleboard that no one has ever played or cared about (OK, bad example, but still).

Personally, I don't look at it as paying $250 for a bundle of paper with some drawings on it, I look at is as trading in my useless PS3 as a excuse to get a 60 GB model to buy the piece of paper with some drawings on it.

 

That actually is a good example......I gotta say though, using monies from a PS3 sell could probably be thrown at rare games or something, but it's your call, and I gotta respect how weird the purchase is!

 

One quick question is, how do you know it's really that rare? I've only bought one rare Doujin which was Y10,000 and that was only after lots of research.

 

Limited Quantities + Hoarders that never wanted it released + It was believed to not even exist for a good 4 years. Not to mention it goes for a pretty penny on the Japanese yahoo auctions on the rare occasions it is listed. I've been keeping my eye out for it the last few years, and I have never really seen it go up on ebay before, so this isn't a everyday thing. Personally, I just want it to finally be released and translated after all this time, despite any sort of value loss I might inquire due to releasing it.

 

Well the author doesn't have any doujin he has done listed on his website, he is called tezawari as I don't want to post links to dodgy websites.

So apart from having Peach and Zelda having it off and having a limited run, is there any reason why this doujin is expensive, or more to the point why do you want it? The author isn't anyone special and limited run doujin doesn't always make the doujin expensive as I have tons of doujin that isn't translated or even listed anywhere.

Well, funny thing happened. About a week ago, I started to think about it and said to myself "Hmmm...Do I really want to spend $250 on rare porn?" and backed out and lowered my bid down to $150, which was below the reserve. Someone else outbid me, and won.

Just a few minutes ago, it was posted on a message board. I guess the seller decided to let it go for $150 afterall. Sort of glad I chose to back out, since I just wanted to see it released. I still might pay to get it translated, though. +

 

I'll translate it for $250.
